I know this is in the wrong place but wanted to give it more exposure before it gets moved etc. Anyway a new upscale mall will be built next to Ikea called the Seasons of Tuxedo. Shows the growth of Winnipeg with a new mall being built, and I always thought they should have built a mall in that area years ago.
Anyway, here is a 3d rendering of the mall, looks good!

Definitely in the wrong section...why do people always post something in the wrong place and then aknowledge that there doing so?
Having said that it looks like a great building, I always wished the St. Vital mall had been nuilt a little more extravagant, its too plain to rival Polo.

Gave the reason, plus you turned around and commented anyway so yeah. People think this mall is too excessive, too extravagant and only belongs in places like Toronto. This small town mind will never leave, and those who accept growth will pass them by. Excited to see how it turns out.

Wow, that looks pretty awesome. I hate shopping, but even I'd be excited to check out that mall if it does in fact get built.

We consciously allow certain threads to get exposure on the main board before moving them.
I think this looks really cool. Looks like IKEA and the surrounding area is going to be the place to be for shopping in Winnipeg in the near future! I like it.

Wow, 20 years ago, I would drive by that area every day on my way to the U of M and it was nothing but a field.
Any idea when this project is supposed to be completed?

Looks great but once again exposes the lack of vision of our city planners. If you want to go to this mall, plan for an all day event as it will take you hours to get through the traffic.
When route 90 extension was done, I remember it being referred to as a "freeway". It's not. There are lights every ten feet. Even in Regina, they have a ringroad and rather than put up lights and intersection before the entrance to every store, they have on/off ramps and access roads. That is what this sorely needs.
Even the proposed widening of Route 90 north of Taylor will only bring the area up to today's needs. Once IKEA and this new mall are open, look out.

Bishop needs on off ramps. I say do an on off ramp onto sterling, cuz once all this is up and running, the traffic light on that intersection will be the worst idea ever.

I do agree w/ the increased traffic; I'm very familiar w/ it each and every morning (including Saturday's) so the city will have to work fast if they want to avoid that issue.
Coincidentally, on CJOB this morning, it was stated that until Kenaston can be widened from 4 to 6 lanes, it requires the FEDERAL gov't (not the City or the Province) to settle a lawsuit (its been ongoing for years now) w/ no less than 7 first nations groups over Kapyong barracks.
So, it may take sometime to solve the traffic problem.
The Sales video looks great, but where's the SNOW?!?! Some of it looks domed and some of it looks like its open ceiling...in Winnipeg?!?! Really?!?!!?
I vaguely remember the strip of Osborne village where 92 CITI FM is currently; they built it like garage doors where in the summer it can be "opened" to allow the outside in; turns out, they always leave them closed. Winter and Summer -- I guess for the air conditioning.
It'll be interesting to see if this design pans out. I'm all for change; but I think our climate will impact some of the design if not add delays to the construction.
Thanks for posting!

I believe the majority fo the developmetn is meant to be open air, much like Kenaston commons or the Bloomington mall on the way to Minneapolis that I'm sure many people are familiar with . That's the new way these developments are built as its easier to slowly expand an open air mall vs a covered mall. The whole area isn't set to be complete for another decade.

Why do I have a feeling that I might not even live in Winnipeg by the time this Mall is built?

It's windowed ceilings, the video didn't render a ceiling so it looked like open air.

The window ceilings would be neat. This is off topic a tad but since people were talking about Kenaston I'm curious has there ever been any talk of connecting Kenaston to the perimeter? The roads before it (Pembina and Waverly are)

^ Yes, Kenaston is being routed out to the south perimeter.
