teams tank all the time guys. dont be so quick to jump down his throat. i personally dont want to see the team do it, didnt like it when the Jets did it back in the day to land ducky, but it turned out great. but lets face it, this team as is is DOOMED!.... i would rather the Jets just trade Kane...yes, i said it!...trade him. get Parise, get Ryan, get somebody!

I would never want to see them throw games. but admit a good draft pick is an amazing consolation prize to missing the playoffs.

I'm surprised Chevy kept most of Atlanta scouts. If you look back at the Thrashers' draft history, they did pick some good ones like Kane and Bogo, but those are consensus top picks. There are a few years there where they drafted badly in the mid to later rounds.

Fergie had some good days and some bad, Hawerchuck and Teemu oh ya Fergie picks, and he wore the Jets name on his ass and in his Heart, so bashing Fergie in my eyes as a Jets fan, not cool and I will stand up and say, I was more then happy to watch Morris Lukowich play in a Jets uniform, he was a class act and some players could have leaned a few things from a guy like him! If Wade Campbell did not have such a bad heath issue (Asthma) he would have been a much better player. I loved the 80's Jets If you followed back then, at one point we had probbably the second best team in the leauge for a couple of years, to bad the Oilers were in our division, and I love even more are new team. All I expressed was the team needs some help and the draft is the best way, I would never throw a game and this team is doing a good job of it on there own. I've waited 15 years to have this back all I'm saying I am patient enough to wait for us to build a team of our own, and to trade guys like Kane, Buff, Zach, would be counter productive they are the teams future along with some new guys not named yet..

What happens, happens I say.
I think if at the trade deadline were not in the running trade all UFA's for picks that we can.
We're 5 points out right now, but if all teams continue at the same pace for the rest of the season we'd miss the playoffs by 14 points. That's a lot of ground to make up

Look at it from a big picture perspective. What do you think Mark Chipman would say if Chevy or Noel proposed any form of tanking for the purposes of moving up in the draft order? Think about what Mark has put into this exercise, from battling for acceptability in the IHL days to driving the AHL merger, to building the MTS Center against some powerful enemies, and to finally bringing the NHL back to Winnipeg.
This does not sound like a man who accepts defeat even when others are trying to force it upon him. Taking on defeat voluntarily? Not happening.

Plus, it's still a lottery system. Losing out only gets you a chance at moving up in the draft order.

I do not think we should tank on purpose.
However, I do not curl myself up in the fetal position and cry myself to sleep when the Jets lose.
The fact is, the Jets at present, are not capable of winning a champioship.
We need more talent and a change of culture, this will take four to five seasons to achieve.
In the 1980's the Red Wings were a joke and referred to as the Dead Wings.
The Bruins were drafting lottery picks a decade ago.
Wayne Gretzky called the Devils a "Micky Mouse" organization.
I will be patient and enjoy having my Jets back.

Patience is key, and to not call for firing of coaches, trading of top players, and calling into radio show having lost your mind. But someone else posted that they should "rest" guys who might normally play who are a little banged up for a better draft position, which is ludicrous and totally a slap in the face of the other players, the organization, and fans. This isn't your 80s Jets with "Fergie" who didn't find much talent out there during his reign....aside from the obvious easy draft choices.

I think if the Jets are thinking about the future then for sure they are active at the deadline. We have UFA's that can be moved.
Our pending UFA's:
Jim Slater Tanner Glass Kyle Wellwood Tim Stapleton Johnny Oduya Mark Flood Randy Jones Chris Mason
And two players who are UFA's in 2013 and make too much: Antropov Hainsey
Of the UFA's, the Jets will have to decide who they want to re-sign, who they are sure they can re-sign and who has value in trades.
Thoughts?

Sorry that my thinking out loud offended you, not like management was taking my advise, ::)I will retract what I said, Oh by the way how many NHL managers dratted more then one rookie of the year in there career, and one happened to be the 10 pick overall that most people laughed at, not an obvious pick. You should have been there in the 80's some great time, if it wasn't for the 80's you would probably cheering for the POLAR BEARS TODAY! ;D

Morris was a great jet ( 65 goals in last WHA year ) i loved the 80's jets. my point is seconded place was fun but seeing a small western Canada city win many cups (one without #99) still hurts and so never tank always try to win the game

Simple Question: Do we want to be Calgary or do we want to be Chicago?!?
Finishing 9th or 10th won't benefit anyone. Better to tank this season when you have guaranteed sell-outs, and then draft your future superstars.
