We all know it's coming. He's on track for 40 goals plus. Forty goal scorers don't come cheap. Take your best guess. Bring comparatives in if necessary.

I would try a bridge deal if his agent asks for too much. That would give some flexibility. If he lights it up as expected during that time pay him a ton then ? I'm sure his BFF will be in his ear to make a long term deal work however. How much money does a kid living with his Mom really need ? LOL

I guess that's the cost for winning Stanley Cups and being the core players.

I laugh every time I see those Chicago contracts 13 million this year, and then 12, 10, 7, 7, 7. AAV/Cap Hit of 10.5 million. Turning 30 in April. Between him and Kane (not to mention a few other bloated contracts), they better hope the cap goes up a bunch. 10.5 million cap hit for a 34/35 year old...ouch...

Chevy is the master at getting good value, and Laine likes it here and wants to win, I say 7.5-8 mil for 8 years.

If the question had come up 15 games ago I'd probably be in the 6.5 to 7MM range. The way he's lighting it up now (like we know he can but almost forgot what he is capable of), it's going up with every game. What happens in playoffs might put it out of sight. Right now I'm guessing about 8MM but I could very well be thinking 8 x 11MM by the time this season is done.

Adding a Rocket award will only help his cause. Seems like only a few days ago that Ovi winning the award was a formality......

Put him back with Copp or Little. That should slow him down

1.5 to 2 mill less per season that the market says has worth.
Unless he turns out to be another McDavid and leaves a whopping 500k on the table. Completely paralyzing his team.
Buff, Scheif and Ehlers all see the big picture, so I don't see Laine demanding the max.

It's the Draisaitl contract that is the problem. How is Laine's agent going to accept less than the $9 million he got when clearly he is better than Draisaitl

It's the Draisaitl contract that is the problem. How is Laine's agent going to accept less than the $9 million he got when clearly he is better than Draisaitl Look at the last three big deals Chevy got signed. If you want long term success from both sides, you can't rip off your players, but you also can't put yourself ahead of the team. If Laine truly is worth 10, I expect him to sign for 8ish. I think this is a big reason why we won't see Trouba signed. The Jets want to keep a certain type of player and it's not the selfish type

We shall see what a winning season and a good run in the playoffs does to Trouba's mindset.
