I would try a bridge deal if his agent asks for too much. That would give some flexibility. If he lights it up as expected during that time pay him a ton then ? I'm sure his BFF will be in his ear to make a long term deal work however. How much money does a kid living with his Mom really need ? LOL
13 million this year, and then 12, 10, 7, 7, 7. AAV/Cap Hit of 10.5 million. Turning 30 in April. Between him and Kane (not to mention a few other bloated contracts), they better hope the cap goes up a bunch. 10.5 million cap hit for a 34/35 year old...ouch...
If the question had come up 15 games ago I'd probably be in the 6.5 to 7MM range. The way he's lighting it up now (like we know he can but almost forgot what he is capable of), it's going up with every game. What happens in playoffs might put it out of sight. Right now I'm guessing about 8MM but I could very well be thinking 8 x 11MM by the time this season is done.
cohen61: Mason GAA 5.6 Hellebucyk 2.0 Anybody catching any trends here? How long before Chevy admits Mason is a mistake? How long do we wait?

minimac63: Unfortunately Mason is proving to be a "train-wreck" with our defense! #'s and Eye-test do not LIE.

minimac63: HAVE to see Maurice ride Connor Hellebuyck often and regularly. No chance for Jets to get above and maintain above .500 record if they: 1)Do not fire Ass. coaches Huddy and Flaherty(GC), A.S.A.P.

minimac63: Cont'd...And 2)Play Hellebuyck regularly (until he "poops-the-sheets"), 3)Hire Trevor Kidd as goalie coach, and 4)Hire Dale Hawerchuk as an Associate Coach!! Then, maybe a chance to "right" the veering ship, sinking into mediocrity of the past 5 & 1/2 yrs

minimac63: Anyone who does not agree with hiring Trevor Kidd as a goalie coach, you need to hear his take on the Jets goalies woe's,for 1, then listen to his knowledge and answers to fix Jets defensive structure and break-down issues, for 2.

minimac63: Trevor Kidd is already living here in the 'Peg, he has a pass to the Bell Center and he actually has ideas from an NHL experience point of view on how to fix their problems, actually with all the players they currently have, not by trading everyone!

minimac63: TK could actually be a wise choice for a "dual-role" as Goalie/Defensive Coach. IMO. What do y'all think, JETs-Can-Soar Fans?

minimac63: We want Hawerchuk, we want Hawerchuk...we want Hawerchuk. The new public sign at Portage & Main "crosswalk opening"

Gumbyman: Yes I believe a deal involving Trouba and Petan and Hutch could garner a decent return, and should!!! But only do it if player(s) coming back is signed long-term and cap-friendly and a true valuable fit mid-20's to late 20'max age.
Jan 11, 2018 22:53:24 GMT -6
Gumbyman: Above mentioned trade would need to include a prospect goalie with nhl back-up potential right away, plus a valuable versatile center/forward and a high- 1st round pick +...
