Can TNSE trash the Jets' legacy and shove the moose down our throats any more than they have...

Can TNSE trash the Jets' legacy and shove the moose down our throats any more than they have... I know right, like naming them the Jets? And having Hawerchuk and Tkachuk at the opener? And the video packages honouring the history? Ridiculous!

Can TNSE trash the Jets' legacy and shove the moose down our throats any more than they have... Um, really? Are there actually still people who look at it this way. For many years I counted myself amongst the biggest Moose haters. Anyone who now fails to see, in hindsight, the immense good that it was to have them here and to have TNSE do all that they did to make them successful, must be really dim. TNSE has done more than anyone could possibly hope for in terms of honouring Winnipeg's hockey history while simultaneously making the new Jets their own. They have also already honoured the city of Winnipeg in ways that the original Jets never did (ie making a legitimate connection with the team name). Go ahead, TNSE, and honour the Moose as much as you see fit.

And the video packages honouring the history? Ridiculous! Hawerchuk and Tkachuk are going to the game just as anyone else. I do not believe they are being honored in any way. I sure hope they have a Dale Hawerchuk night to make up for the pathetic retirement night in Arizona four years ago.

He was alos banned from Jetsowner, hopefully the same will eventually happen here

Yeah, it's a shame TNSE is shoving Moose history down our throat...
I mean, first it was naming the team Manitoba Moose, then it was signing Jaffray to 1st line money, then it was having Mike Keane, Jimmy Roy and Lee Goren dropping the puck! Plus having a pack of Moose's running through downtown was a bit much...
*sarcasm*
I really don't understand people's problem with this. It's not like we have a Bomber plane mascot for the Bombers...

Heres my take.....
I would be willing to bet that a lot of the people who are not impressed with the signing of MickE Moose' are probably the same people who didnt support our AHL team when they were here. They assosciate the moose with being "minor league" and sub par.
For crying out loud its amascot, is guy will be visiting sick kids in the hospital, at charity events, and hig fiving the young ones that are lucky enoug to have parents that brougt them out to a game. ....okay he will probably be hi fiving a few ousand drunk 20-30 someings as well...but whatever.
I look at it as Im paying to see top quality hockey, all the rest are just little luxury items that are bonus. If you feel so strongly against mick e moose then, in my opinion, your priorities are askew.

I am loving this idea, and cannot wait to see Mick E Moose strolling around the arena with that new jersey on.

This is typical posting from Big Chris, go to Jets Fanatic Forum, most negative person I have ever read. He is nothing but a troll. He was alos banned from Jetsowner, hopefully the same will eventually happen here We certainly don't have any intention of banning anyone based on what's happened at any other forum. We only care about conduct here. It's pretty hard to fathom any criticism of TNSE at this point...they're doing the best they can with what they know and with the relationships they already have. I think they've done a great thing bringing in Chevy rather than just making Zinger the GM. Again, this is a situation where time will remove any memory of the Moose and all TNSE will eventually know and care about will be the Winnipeg Jets. Right now it seems like they're kind of sentimental about the Moose. In the long run we'll appreciate that they're human in that way as they will be very protective of their Jets. This is one of the major keys to the long term viability of the franchise. People are entitled to their opinions on Mick E Moose. In 10 years (or less) people will be wondering what the connection is between a Moose and the Jets..but sheesh, it's just a mascot. If the kids love him, it's ok with me.

I think I want a Mick E. Moose doll in a Winnipeg Jets jersey.

It amuses me that we have a five page thread debating the merits of TN's choice of a mascot.
Go JETS Go!
