Don's last point was a bit silly. Why would thugs from the past not want the new breed to make the same living that they did? I don't think there is any hidden agenda by the people that once lived the lifestyle that they are now against? I mean what is the cause of the alleged hypocrisy? Maybe those same people have just grown up a bit? Don obviously possesses great hockey knowledge, but you can't have your cake (great hockey) and eat it too (concussions). Sooner or later, hockey will only consist of players with thick skulls (not talent) with this line of thinking. I dunno about you, but I prefer watching talent over thuggery, if I have to choose...and we DO have to choose! Kids with talent shouldn't be out of the game (potentially for life) due to stupid injuries caused by no-talent meatheads. The examples shown in this video (to make Don's point) all look pretty clean as per the new criteria...I didn't see too many examples of targeting the head. They were mostly clean BODY to BODY checks...and great ones at that! If you guys haven't gone through the video explanations of the suspensions so far, you really should. They make sense to me. The rulings have been consistent and (nearly) anything is better than the nonsense from yesteryear. Reckless behaviour is for criminals, not professionals. Throw your bodychecks when you are sure that you can deliver them without ending a fuggin guy's career. It's called progress...we would still have goalies with no masks without it. What pussies! (sarcasm) Just ask Stapleton how it feels to take a puck in the face! Sorry folks, I think Don is losing the plot on this one. I am sure somebody will have something to say here in reply...so bring it on, pretty boy(s).  Ha! |

I love violent hits in hockey.
But, I cannot tolerate targeted hits to the head.
My entertainment is not worth any player suffering for the rest of his life due to a deliberate headshot.

How many NHL games did Don play as an enforcer? How many games did those 3 play?
Maybe there in a better position to judge the life of enforcers.

Two of the people he called out claimed they never said anything on the subject. For Don to think that these "enforcers" are not under extra pressure and stress? My respect level went down a bit for the man. He backpeddled a bit tonight, but not enough. IMO |

He probably forgot to take one of his pills or something I think you could be right...he seems to be forgetting them on a more regular basis, these days... Between dealing with Cherry and defending Hawerchuk from some drunk-looking folks, Ron MacLean deserves a raise! Cherry is a living legend, etc. ...but I think it might be time for him to step down. By the way, the (Oct. 11, 2011) Wild/Sens game had a good example of BIG (& clean) hit... |

I heard some of the players he went off on are considering legal action which seems stupid but stilll Don needs to get a clue. |

If anyone knows it's Don Cherry. And if you disagree then provide evidence you aren't knowledgable in hockey. Don was 100% accurate. |
