I just wanted to hear what your favorite restaurant/deli/diner/etc. is in the city of Winnipeg. I give props to Johnny G's near the corner of Main and Broadway. Not too impressive from the outside, but nice atmosphere inside. The food is well proportioned, and it is relatively inexpensive. Since it is usually open until 3AM or later on weekends, it makes a great place to hang out after a night out. Other great places to eat in Winnipeg, IMO: Daly Burgers (Corydon Village) Charile's (Stadacona near Nairn) Papa Georges (Osborne Village) Cousins Deli (Sherbrooke and Wolseley)

I've never been to Johhny G's (have heard horrible things about it though) but I keep meaning to try it because my name is Jon last name starts with a G and when I was a youngin everyone used to call me Johhny G.
As for good spots it depends what your lookin for, Burgers go to near the St. Mary's/Bishop intersect, amazing. If your looking for over priced half decent food try Boston Pizza. If your looking for a steak try the Roundhouse on Pembina, amazing steaks not cheap though.
Some other goodies, Original Joes on Kenaston, Tavern United (good pub style place, great wings), and the Wellington....if your stupid rich.

The Wagon Wheel - Hargrave/Portage - Best Clubhouse sandwich anywhere Sumhay - King/Logan - dumpy looking but great Chinese food. Superboys - North Main, best grease burger around. Gasthaus Gutenberger - Portage Ave just West of Moray, awesome lunch buffet $$ The Kings Head Pub - best pub food in the City by far. Falafel Place - Corydon - spicy corned beef hash - great breakfast. Taste of Sri Lanka/Bindi's at the Forks. Great roti.
Edit:
Forgot one: Black Sheep Diner at Ellice/Langside (I believe). For those of you not put off by the neighbourhood - you'll find a really great breakfast.

I never got around to checking out the Winnipeg Original Joe's. I worked for a Calgary location a few years back as a weekend job. It must be one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in Canada.

Pizza - Calabrese Pizza in the Scurfield strip mall by Route 90. Sushi - I like Sakura on Kenaston. Pricy but it's some of the best. Their Volcano roll rocks! Chinese - I'm still looking for a replacement for the venerable Shang-Hi. General Italian - Casa Grande on Sargeant. Get the Carbonara and enjoy the surroundings. You can almost hear Don Corleone whispering in the corner. East Indian - East India Company by the Convention Centre. Top-notch buffet. Fine Dining - If The Lobby ever re-opens it will tied with 529 Wellington.
Any suggestions for a Shang Hai - like Chinese dining experience?

Was there last month for the first time in decades, and it just wasn't up to par. Like the Whip in St. Boniface. That used to be one of the highlights of my trips back home, but within the last couple of years things changed. Driven past Superboys hundreds of times. Thanks to this thread, I'll be stopping in one of these days!!!! Better be good or I'll be letting you guys have it!!!

It was as I remembered it and still holds a top spot in my rankings. However, I overheard a staff member there talking to another customer that because of the new development going on there they have to be out by March (If I remember correctly). Staff was unsure about opening in a new location. Looks like the Wagon Wheel's days are numbered. Superboys are great. Just get a lot of napkins, really messy.

Original Joe's on Kenaston, love it and LOVE the fact that it is 18 and up only, no whining crying kids running around while the parents sit there and let it happen. Heard they are opening one up in St. Vital and I hope that's true.
The Keg downtown, Cora's for brunch, Maximes, and Selanne, that burger joint at St. Mary's and Bishop is called George's Burgers, and YES it is awesome, the milkshakes are soooo good
