stjohnsicecaps.com/article/icecaps-to-implement-whiteout-for-home-playoff-games/St. John's IceCaps News ICECAPS TO IMPLEMENT “WHITEOUT” FOR HOME PLAYOFF GAMES The St. John’s IceCaps announced Monday they will be implementing a “Whiteout” for all home games at Mile One Centre during the 2011-12 Calder Cup playoffs. Fans are asked to wear white clothing to each home game to help create a tough atmosphere for the visiting team, beginning Wednesday night for Game 3 of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Syracuse Crunch. “In the past, the ‘Whiteout’ has served as both an intimidation tactic and a form of unity amongst fans,” said COO and Governor Glenn Stanford. “We believe that it will be an integral piece of our playoff atmosphere this year and in years to come.” The best-of-five series is currently tied 1-1. The IceCaps defeated the Crunch 3-2 on Friday night but fell 4-3 Saturday, with both games taking place at War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY. Game 3 goes Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. NST while Game 4 is set for Friday, April 27, also at 7:30 p.m. Game 5, if necessary, will take place Saturday, April 28. All three games are at Mile One Centre.

Wish TSNJets broadcast the games. I enjoyed the Calder Cup Playoffs as a Moose ticket holder.

Wish TSNJets broadcast the games. I enjoyed the Calder Cup Playoffs as a Moose ticket holder. Agreed. They had some great series. I still remember the one vs the Americans and Ryan Miller got it good. Funny how a few years later in the same building he got the same treatment!

Great idea!
It will get our prospects used to playing in a "whiteout" in the NHL.
I LOVE this quote...
Fans are [glow=red,2,300]asked[/glow] to wear white clothing to each home game to help create a tough atmosphere for the visiting team, beginning Wednesday night for Game 3 of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Syracuse Crunch.
Fans are [glow=red,2,300]ASKED[/glow] to wear white clothing to show their support...
No stinkin' white t-shirts left on the seats by the home team before the game like in some other places!

Very cool... I never even thought about this before. It'll be nice to tie the two clubs/fan bases together as an institution.
I was looking around online for IceCaps gear just the other day.

Nice. I allow this.
St. Johns is permitted to have an authentic Whiteout. May they implement it correctly and use it wisely.

The games are available online but for a price. $40 for all round 1& 2 Caps games. $10 for each single game. The quality is OK; I've purchased these in the past and they usually use the in-house camera feeds. ahl.neulion.com/ahl/

^ Interesting to see the home team wearing the white jerseys. I wonder if that could happen in the NHL for the playoffs?

Great job on the Whiteout St. John's! From what I saw it wasn't as complete as the Winnipeg Whiteouts, but that was a country mile & a half better than any Coyote Whiteout handing out T-shirts to everyone in the audience. A+ Looking forward to Game 4 highlights and future home playoff game highlights
