In basketball and football, do you not give up your eligibility to play NCAA the moment you say you want to be in the draft? I like that these guys at least can still play NCAA for a few years as a drafter player and then go to the NHL.

I just saw a TSN article today about the Windsor Spitfires receiving sanctions for recruiting violations. It made me think of this Trouba story, although this was supposedly the Kitchener Rangers. Probably no connection...

I like that these guys at least can still play NCAA for a few years as a drafter player and then go to the NHL. The reason the rules are different for hockey is becasue the Draft is for players who are between the ages of 18-20, and I belive in the NHL you can be drafted without entering your name, so guys wouldnt really have a choice.
