I was talking with a bunch of guys about Heritage/Winter Classics and it got me thinking....
Who would be on the Jets' 20-player Alumni roster?
(remember we can dip into the WHA Jets too ;D )

assuming 12-6-2? and anyone who's ever played for the Jets? I don't know ALOT about the history, or players too far back, but I'd have to start with... Forwards: Ducky Selanne Steen Hull Nilsson Hedberg Lindstrom Smail? Beaudin (purely for being the first ever Jet ) Tkachuk Lukowich? Boschman MacLean? Defense: LE Sjoberg Carlyle? Babych Housley Ellett Mantha? Kyte? Marois Goaltender: Daly Pokey! Bandit OH GOD THIS IS SOO HARD! more than the 20 there but those are most of who I think should be involved... christ this is a puzzler

I would be hard to get Lars-Erik Sjoberg... he passed away from cancer 25 years ago

ah, got ourselves a joker here! it's a theoretical list as this 20-player roster wouldn't happen at all...

I wasn't poking fun at all. I meant if they made an Alumni team for an outdoor game, who would we invite.

Forwards (not really taking into account LW, RW....just forwards): Steen Lukowich Hawerchuk Selanne Tkachuk Zhamnov Ulf Nilsson Hedberg Hull
Defense:
Babych Ellett Housley Carlyle (assuming current coaches can take part) Numminen Olausson
Goaltenders:
Essensa Berthiaume Tabaracci

What about me? lol
If it was to actually ice a team, likely have to look at players from the late 80's to the end.Age and availability has to be looked at,Hull couldn't even skate at the 15th anniversary game and had to be coach.more likely to be players like Neufeld,Ducky and Steen to carry on the torch like they have been doing.

Bingo. The WHA guys are all in their 60s or 70s by now and can't lace them up anymore. We're looking at the Hawerchuk, Steen, Selanne era players to be physically able to play an alumni game when the time comes.

Ok. let's rebrand this.
Assuming all players were in their prime, who would you pick? (PS that's what I thought GC meant, and that's what my post is based on)

The Jets alumni would be Thrashers players, no? All the players mentioned would be Yotes alumni.
That would suck, but I am certainly curious about how theyd handle that

^ I don't think so. Its not like other cities who got a new team and went with a new name, this is the Winnipeg Jets. Once a Jet. Besides, the people want to see the former Jets so I can see the NHL giving the people what they want with this one.

Rich Preston is still playing some hockey so I am sure some WHA'ers would be available.

Is it up to True North to recruit whomever they want for their alumni team or are their rules? By definition, Thrashers players are Jets alumni.
