I don't see the value in running the arena down. It is what it is. I think we can all agree on one thing: without it, there would be NO Jets 2.0.
We can all probably agree on the fact there won't be a new arena for a generation or two. That too is unfortunate.
But because we have this arena, we have the Jets back. Perhaps there are more productive things to bitch about?

If we had done it on a Champagne budget, we'd be like KC, Hamilton, Saskatoon etc. Nice big arena.....no tennant.

Concerts, hockey and anything Ive watched in it has been horrible. Its would be nice if Thomson got involved in a new building sooner rather than later.
I dont enjoy going to games at all.....people drive me insane and the are all too effing close!

I have no complaints at all with MTS Centre I would never expect Thomson to build a new arena on his own, what NHL owner does? It doesn't make any sense from a business point of view.

I think you made a good point, we should all start the push for Winnipeg to build a new area and do it right the first time this time. Our city is now consider big league again, we have a big league team, they charge big league prices, and we have a minor league facility!

Had we built it we would be better off now, but we didn't build it cuz it's pretty hard to justify back in 2000/2001 when the project got off the ground. Like I said, we all agree it could be a bit bigger and that would be nice, but I'm more than willing to live with it. And unless your over 60, shut up and deal with the lack of elbow room! ;D It's 3 hours ya old turds!

You would enjoy a game in Glendale, lots of room to stretch your legs, swing your arms... throw a boomerang if you want. And don't worry, you won't hear a peep out of any annoying fans! the seats aren't THAT much more cramped than any full arena

I don't know what the long term plan is for the city but wouldn't an arena look good where Portage Place is?
To me MTS will always be beautiful - since I'll always associate it with the ROTJ. I just wish it was less cramped though - a modicum of comfort enhances enjoyment of the game. Bigger lobbies? HD scoreboard? Sound system upgrades? No bearing on the game whatsoever.
As far as washroom facilities go, if the lineup is too long go use the trough. And by that I mean the alley north of the Met between Donald and Smith. World's longest urinal trough, used by men and ladies alike from what I've seen in my post-game walk to the truck.
(Well, maybe I'm playing fast and loose with the word 'ladies' there. Let's say females.)

Its just too bad that TNSE and Thomson have invested sooooo much money in the area. That is a tall tale sign that this sub par arena will be the Jets home for many many years.

There is zero chance a new arena will be built at any time in the next 25 years. People complain about the small gaming centre, what do you think would be the reaction to government money going into a new arena when we have a building that for it's shortcomings still does the job?
If anyone wants to say Thomson can foot the entire bill, I say get real.

Wouldn't you all think that realistically a new arena would be 20 years from now?
