The 74-75 Caps lost 37 straight road games...... had 1-39 road record...... amazingly the Sens in 1992-93 went 1-41 on the road. They finished tied with the Sharks for fewest points but had one less win..... and they drafted Alexander Daigle.

Ottawa Senators 1992-1993 GP W L T GF GA Pts Ottawa Senators 84 10 70 4 202 395 24shucks... well I guess I can eventually get over the fact that we're not the worst On a side bar, that's why I started liking the Sens in about 1998. I spent a year after 1996 not watching hockey, but then figured I should pick a Canadian team to cheer for. The sens were a natural choice, since from 1993-1996 they were so awful they had never really had a chance to hurt the Jets! Big fan for 14 or so years... didn't take long to view them as an enemy like every other team once May 31 came around!

(I know Daigle was the Crosby of his draft year but he's gotta be up there with Patrik Stefan and Daniel Dore). Who's Daniel Dore? Winger selected 5th overall by the Quebec Nordiques at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. NHL totals: 5 points in 17 games with Quebec, 1989-1991. Drafted ahead of: Jeremy Roenick, Rod Brind'Amour, Teemu Selanne. m.

Don't know the story behind the guy, but it seems odd that a 5th overall draft pick only got 17 games in his career. 5 points for a rookie isn't even that bad (in 17 games)

its the off-season. next season is our second, second season in the NHL and it got me to thinking. 9-57-14 33 points. is it even fathomably to think that we will ever see again in the NHL a worse season than that of the 1980-81 Winnipeg Jets? i dont think so, and i hope not either. its like a badge of honour in some sick, twisted way. its ours. Not to nitpick, but in those days 9-57-14 was 32 points...even worse than you thought! ;D was never known for my math.

ok. the actual record is in WINLESS streak. that surely must still be ours no? 33 games WITHOUT a win. now that makes sense. it wasnt that my math was poor ( which it is) but i mixed up points for the winless streak.

The 1980-81 Jets set a record for the longest winless streak in NHL history - 30 Games (23 losses and 7 ties). They finished a dismal record of 9-57-14, for 32 points. However there have been teams in the modern era that have put up worse records: 1. Washington Capitals 1974-75 (8-67-5) 2. Ottawa Senators 1992-93 (10-70-4) 3. San Jose Sharks 1992-93 (11-71-2) 4. Quebec Nordiques 1989-90 (12-61-7) 5. New York Islanders 1972-73 (12-60-6)

^Islanders, Capitals, Senators were all expansion, Sharks in their second year. Jets were pretty much an expansion team too, as all their top players were lost in the 1979-80 expansion draft. Technically, the Jets were a second year NHL team.

I'm glad there was no draft lottery back then. Knowing we were going to get Dale Hawerchuk in the draft helped me get through some of the darker moments of that season.
