Wasn't paying attention today and put out my garbage bin backwards.
So here's a big shout out to the douche bag who took the time to get out of the truck and attach a tag to the bin telling me WHY it wasn't picked up, but couldn't take the time to spin the bin around.

I actually had the opposite experience one day with the recycling. I forgot to roll the bin to the lane and the guy actually came to the house end of the driveway and rolled it out to the truck.

I've had a few neighbors do what I did, with your result. It's also what I was expecting, so when I felt the weight of the garbage I just shook my head.

Learned your lesson though. They taught you!!!
If you miss garbage pick up, and you can't wait till the next pick-up, Oxford CC (community club not car club) leaves their BFI bin open!

We've got it pretty good, when one of our complaints is: they didn't pick up my garbage because I did NOT put the container out the way they explain how to right on the side/top of said receptacle!!
So hard done by!!!!

I'm big on personal responsibility - I screw up the bin placement it's on me, full stop. But a one-time warning really should be the policy. Chronic bin misplacement should be punished but early on in the new system a one-time warning would have been sound policy. Especially after the bad press Emterra got when the new system was put in place. You'd think they'd want to get some good karma after the startup troubles.
At the other end of the spectrum is one household down the block from me. Every week he put his bin out, overflowing like the Clampett's jalopy from the Beverley Hillbillies, and every week it's left there with a tag attached. You'd think something would have registered by now...
BTW - how did you mess up the bin orientation? Handles to the house and the big arrows pointing away? I've got your back but that's a pretty easy set of instructions...

Because this thread is of such importance...
It would be easy to screw up the bin placement! They TOTALLY SCREWED UP ON THE BIN DESIGN!!!!!
I haven't screwed it up yet, but I do find that I naturally place it backwards every time since I drag it behind me by the handle, then you have to turn it around once it's in place.
The humanity!
You would think they'd give a warning for that typa thing though the first few months. After a while though they gotta enforce it, and it's not like they can know who has already had a warning or not.

^^^just had that exact thought last night, the handles are on the wrong side!
Hey, don't get me wrong, I placed it backwards, so yes, that's on me, but I would of rather bad no tag, and a full bin! As soon as I saw it, I realized it was backwards.
It just doesn't make sense to tag it but not spin it around. As a matter of fact, strictly from a time/effort perspective, I know for a fact it's quicker to spin it than it is to put the twist tie through the handle, then around and twist a few times.

I find the handles to be on the right side. Our driveway slopes down so I walk out with the bin leading the way, letting gravity do the work.

We should start a poll...."PUSH OR PULL THE NEW GARBAGE BINS?" But most people store them against a wall. Thus you HAVE to push them up to the edge of the wall. Then the handle is out, and it just makes so much more sense to pull (rather than push) them out from the wall to head to the end of the driveway or sidewalk!

Push the trash bins... pull the trash bins... where do you store your trash bins... HOW LONG UNTIL THE SEASON OPENER? M! It's coming sooner than the next garbage/recycling pickup cycle!
