No brainer, sign him......
EDMONTON—Quarterback Steven Jyles, who came to Edmonton in the trade that sent all-star pivot Ricky Ray to the Toronto Argonauts, has been released by the Eskimos.
Jyles played in 10 games for the Eskimos last season, including nine starts.
He was unable to spark Edmonton’s offence, completing 129 of 220 passes (58.6 per cent) for 1,756 yards. Jyles had six touchdowns, but just as many interceptions.
Jyles was traded to Edmonton in December 2011 with non-import kicker Grant Shaw and Toronto’s first selection (second overall) in the 2012 CFL Canadian draft in exchange for Ray. The trade, agreed to by then-Eskimos general manager Eric Tillman, was largely panned in Edmonton. Ray went on to lead Toronto to a Grey Cup victory last fall.
“Steven is an outstanding professional that did everything asked of him,” Eskimos coach Kavis Reed said Monday in a release. “We really appreciate his professionalism and commitment to the team.”

Please, no. Don't re-sign Jyles. He has had many chances at being a starter and is pretty much finished. He will forever be known as "that guy who got traded for Ricky Ray."

We have a chance to pick up a guy who's so good he was once traded for Ricky Ray? Can't pass that up!

maybe the Bombers can actually go out and find a bona fide QB for once? forget Jyles, what he brings wont help this team. we need a QB that is smart, agile, composed and a leader. Jyles is none of those things.

There are119 schools that compete at the level 1-A division in the NCAA, 119 teams for the 1-AA division, 148 Division 2 NCAA teams and 92 NAIA football. I might start looking there.

Isn't our problem that we basically have 4 backup quarterbacks right now and no one who can stay in 18 games and give us a chance to win each week? So why would we want Jyles?

He may be able to start and finish a game....but that doesn't mean he gets good results. NO JYLES!

Problem is lots of these guy that leave the NCAA that don't make the NFL have better opportunity's working off there degrees then coming to the CFL.

I would say sign Jyles for sure. The Bombers need some actual stability at qb, not a guy who cant make it through a season (I do love Buck's heart though), but we also need someone we can develope and build the franchise around. Thats going to take time because you cant rush that development so I think Jyles would be a great stand in during that whole process.
