Kane is on a hot streak right now and I am very happy about it BUT it still has not changed my mind about him quite yet. If he is consistant the rest of the season and gets it together then I will be a believer. Proud of him right now though I'm very happy he is changing it around.. Hopefully he took all the criticism and made it motivation and hes stuffin back in our/my face lol. I can deal with that if he keeps this up.

Out of curiosity do you really find it shocking that a 21 year old who is making millions of millions of dollars has a bit of an ego? The criticism around Kane is largely blown out of proportion mainly because Winnipeg in comparison to other NHL cities is small, there arent many other professional athletes walking around the city (think of cities with multiple pro teams) and he makes the mistake of just being a little too open. As I mentioned in a previous thread a while back Kane made an appearance at an inner city school, that appearance was un publicized which I think says a lot. If you want to build your team around who behaves best in public get ready to finish last because the sad truth is many pro athletes have inflated egos, some might be less focused on for the previously stated reasons but at the end of the day thats the truth. Now hopefully Kane will grow out of it like Tkachuk, in fact I would argue that he is doing that right now.

^ Unless he does something really, really stupid or acts like a total d!ck (see the other Kane, or guys like Avery) just leave well enough alone.

The last hockey player who carried himself with a real swagger in this town was Bobby Hull, and he was beloved. And don't kid yourself - he was a Jet for one reason and one reason only - money.
As long as he isn't a problem in the dressing room - and any reports indicating as such are just speculation, and let's face it, even if true, it disappears as pucks fill the net - I say we embrace Kaner's swagger.

It does surprise me a little bit about what he did.. he's gotta realize where he is playing and how much hockey means to this city. EVERYTHING he does is going to be in the media..this isn't atlanta anymore where nhl is 3rd tier. He is front and center and a role model for many many young kids in this city and you would think the team would of had this talk when they moved to winnipeg , hes gotta know where he is and who is looking up to him. If he knows what he is goin to do is goin to bring more negative press then just don't do it or at least dont publicize it. Its okay to have en ego but its another to do some of the stupid things he has done. Hopefully he will start to mature now that i think he realizes how impressionable he is on the city. The team doesn't need more negative press around it.

yes. get rid of him while he still is worth something.. before last game he was on an 8 game goal less streak and if thats not enough.. he was invisible in play, he didnt do anything worth noticing except turnovers and missed shots. hes too cocky, high ego and he doesnt play well.. name one other player in the league that stayed LONG TERM in the NHL that acts like him? i bet you cant. Sean Avery.. and he was out of the league at age 31 because of the same reasons as Kane. If Kane keeps this up he wont be in the league past 26 years old. He's not smart enough. 30 goals last year.. how many game winners or high impact goals? 6? .. Wheeler has half his goals and more GWG ...just saying Did you just compare Kane to Sean Avery? They're not even remotely comparable when it comes to on-ice performance. Nothing you said makes sense. The only thing I'll give you is that Wheeler is the bomb. However, that has nothing to do with Kane. As for game winners, I think Kane just shut you up this last week (and thankfully so... this old "kane should go" ranting has to stop.. it makes no sense).

And, without going into any details (since every long-time Jet fan would know this)... but Hull's behaviour off the ice (in my view) was much, much, much worst than Kane's.

Jeez are people still doing this?
1. If Kane's 'attitude' was a problem, I'm sure that by know it would have been made publicly known, as some players or backroom staff would have said something. But alas, no, not even the quietest, crappest rumour has been said about anything.
2. What would please you guys? Everyone's still clinging on to the hope of an old Ducky-esque or modern-day Iginla to come along and be the face of the franchise because they're deemed 'socially acceptable' and 'squeaky-clean'. We've been graced with a superstar here, so what if he's young and 'not like the old days' where he'd stay around for 7 hours after a game and sign autographs. The kid's signed a long-term contract, showing that he wants to stay and play here for at least that long. What else do you want him to do? Be out there every day at dinner feeding the homeless? Sweeping the streets? Coming round to fix your TV?
get a grip. Kane's a superstar, so what about his antics. he may be a big fish in a small pond so everyone 'looks up to him' but at the end of the day, he didn't ask for that, it's been thrust upon him. Yeah he may act abit jackassish at times but so what, I would if I was earning that amount of money. ooooh damnnn he posted a picture on twitter of him holding some money in Vegas.
Call me when he posts one snorting cocaine and hitting some crystal, or a news report comes out saying he's been casually punching kids in the face at the end of games

He's on a hot streak, so people like him right now. Once he goes into a slump, people will find anything negative to say about him. It's human nature and mob mentality, I guess.

When Evander Kane is on a hot streak, he is a formidable opponent. However, when he is in one of his cold streaks, he can be a very frustrating player to watch.
In the end, I hope the Jets keep Kane, but I hope in the future our offense isn't totally reliant on him. LLW and Burmi need to keep their play up as well, and can hopefully give Kane a nudge when he starts to go cold.
But as of right now, he's money...
