Dream scenario... taking over the Bombers. Most likely scenario... 2nd tier UFC event.

No way we are getting a All Star team...MTSC is too small Would love it if we got a WHL team, but just dont think thats the case. We will be getting a Heratage Classic game, and I think its probably next year...I'm guessing this is what it is .

Im not sure if you even bothered to read the thread, but post #2 says its non hockey related, and its already been confirmed that it is a UFC event on June 15th.

Great, brain dead, knuckle dragging, neandrathals, beating each other bloody and stupid for the entertainment of the disenfranchised masses. I'll give that garbage the miss!

Well, if it aint hockey related....who cares. Seriously, if not a huge hockey event - then what? A concert - an awards show - etc etc. SPORTS related and some people do care beyond hockey. Um, when I said 'who cares' - I meant that UFC, IMO, is not some grand major announcement. Its like the WWE coming in for a show. Nothing major about this announcement.

Perhaps an arena expansion ? If they add a few thousand seats at 50 bucks a pop I might be able to afford more than 1 game a year. The best drinkers are in the cheap seats so they'll make more money in section 400 Might not see the ice from up there however. LOL

What's wrong with watching guys who have more concussions than IQ points beat the hell out of each other lol. Hey there's nothing m ore exciting than a good fight, and if they want to take a beating for my entertainment, I'll watch it lol.

LOL The announcment is UFC, and BTW P7 tickets range from $50.00-$62.00 walkup, so im not sure why you are saying they need to add $50.00 seats.

Nothing major about this announcement. This couldn't be further from the truth. Just because you don't see MMA as a 'major sport', it doesn't negate the fact that it really truly is. This is the same organization the sold out the Rodgers Centre. Claiming that an event like that isn't 'big' for Winnipeg and True North is ignorant. This is HUGE for sporting events in Winnipeg and literally puts it on the map for future events. Winnipeg will join an exclusive list of cities - Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal which have hosted UFC events. Sorry, but this really is a big deal.

I'm personally not a fan of the sport myself, but it's great recognition for Winnipeg to host this event. Great news!

^Agreed. I personally don't watch it unless it's on somewhere when I'm out. However, I think this is great for our city. UFC has only been to 4 Canadian Cities: Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. For Winnipeg to be the next Canadian city to host UFC, which attracts millions of Pay-Per-View subscribers is awesome.
