Seattle is being used by the NHL so as to lower expectations in Quebec IMO.
I would be shocked if the Yotes moved to Seattle.

A lot of people in QC are really down. No mention of QC anywhere...
But as newjets just wrote, it is a diversion ploy. No way does the city of QC doing some upgrades NOW to the old barn without some sort of assurances. We're getting ready.
Seattle? Relo on July 2nd? LOL

^ I would love to see a team in Seattle, but I completely don't believe it is happening (or even in the works).
This really reminds me of the weeks before Winnipeg bought the Thrashers. Every news reporter was talking about the Thrashers moving to Quebec or Hamilton or Seattle or KC. But Winnipeg was the last pick. It wasn't until Stephen Brunt finally broke the news that there was a deal signed that we finally heard Winnipeg being taken seriously.
I really think that this is about the NHL trying to squeeze as much money out of PKP as possible, just like they have done to Glendale.
Its hard to listen to, but keep the faith. There is no way this team is going to Seattle.

The only reason I can think of is the NHL has it's eye on huge expansion cash from QC and Markham. Looks like they want to expand to QC not relocate to QC?

First, PKP is not dumb. He won't pay an inflated expansion price. Second, they can recoup some losses by asking 60 millions in relo fees right now to PKP, which I'm sure he would accept.
Third... Why would the NHL be at risk of burning an interesting future market??? I mean both in Seattle and QC. I could see the bridges burning between QC and the NHL if the Coyotes end up in Seattle. I could see PKP waiting a long time before dealing again with Bettman.

regardless of where the coyotes go, I just want them out of phx. obviously quebec would be my first choice. seattle not a bad option either but I doubt that happens this year. its a shame the old thread is gone.

How does this be in the works for 2 years now with o leaks, news was around winnipeg two year before we got our team back about Atlanta. Then again it would be very fitting to take this franchise and again move it to a soft market that Gary had to find!

Is the NHL itself ignoring that the H&B group doesn't want to own an NHL team? The H&B group also holds all the cards in ANY team (be it NBA or NHL) moving to Seattle because Hansen owns the land where the arena will be built and as of right now has the only viable plan for the arena.
They ARE open to having an NBA team and an NHL team share the arena (it's being designed for both) but the NHL is not happening without the NBA. Despite all these reports of "productive" talk with the NBA over expansion, Stern came out and said the owners have actually been discussing contraction. Talent in the NBA is already spread thin enough, they don't need to add one or more teams and make it even worse, and they know this.
If the NHL truly is using Seattle as Plan B against Phoenix/Glendale then Bettman/Daly/anyone else involved are far more stubborn than even I could believe.

The Jets only turned a small profit in a 15,000 seat building, in a city with an absolutely rabid fan base, owned by a group that already knew how to run a professional hockey team.
How on earth does Seattle work? They'd lose as much money as PHX per yr, until a new building was built.

I can't believe I didn't figure this out sooner. Seattle is Plan B. Quebec is plan A!

All these rumors worry me regarding Quebec's situation, but I am still confident Quebec will prevail... in the end! I like Seattle to have a team but not before Quebec. The only way I would be totally happy with a Seattle relocation-Quebec expansion scenario is with Quebec getting IRON CLAD ASSURANCES about a future expansion team coming to Quebec.
