Check in. More pages on Seattle. Eyes roll. The Coyotes are staying in Glendale. -TODD I'd love to give you a polygraph to see if you actually believe the garbage you type. Don't get me wrong, because I'm one of the few that thinks there's slightly more than a small chance that PHX is staying...for now. I just can't figure how you could truely be this confident with no backing for it. I have days when confidence is rattled, though I never give up. But not this weekend. I have plenty of backing for that confidence based on the news released late Friday. Many here choose to dismiss it. I don't. Thus, confidence levels high. -TODD

Oh, since we've lost the history, thought I would point out that next Saturday is the one year anniversary of my winning bet with Jetsfan88, the welcher whose bet was that the relocation announcement was days, if not just a couple of weeks away.
Remember him? The inside man whose every word was nectar to many folks' relocation dreams? Yeah, it does get hard to remember as its been so long since I began checking my mailbox for the jersey.
And yes, posting that bit of history is on topic, being that much discussion is held here about assured facts and inside information.

I have hard times believing in Seattle as the destination. Anyway, all this talk could be because Bettman doesn't feel comfortable with RSE, and needs a city to makes sure to avoid a hype in QC, like what happened in WPG a few years ago.

Here is what I think the NHL plan is, just my view. They want the league to be 32 teams some day. They need teams in the West. So they would like the team to stay in Phoenix, if not to Seattle. I believe relocation is the option for Seattle, they want a team that can compete right from the start. They learned a lesson with Columbus, which has a hockey market but was tiring of a expansion team always losing. American fans don't have the same patience to wait for a wining team like they do in Canada. Quebec will get the first expansion team for two reasons. They are willing to pay and can handle losing seasons with out the fans turning on the team. Same goes for a second franchise in Ontario.

Makes sense to me I'm just not sure Seattle is ready in anyway, shape, or form. They just can't move into an old arena and be ready to play NHL hockey.

PKP is not willing to overpay. And Sting you think that we are dumb in QC? We don't mind having a losing team for 5 years while an exostent team was up for grab?
I can assure you one thing, based on what I've heard: if the Coyotes stay,we gotta deal with it. Expansion next. COG's decision. But if they end up for whatever reasons in Seattle, there might be some riots, and Bettman could lose the fanbase for a while. Even then I'm not sure people would go crazy having a team back via expansion. Could be a tough sell, and a slap to PKP's face.
I for one would totally, and I mean it, disregard and hate the NHL. Switching completely to something else. Would I pay to see a game in Montreal at premium prices to then see the money go to Seattle??? Never. I would lose any interest by any means into this league. We've been told: you got no arena. We're now building it. You got no owner. PKP is a wealthy man and dedicated to the city. You got no suitable temporary arena. We're renovating the 15k seats barn. For 2 seasons only.
I don't believe the rumours abour Seattle. But if it happens...

Oh and by the way I see some people from Winnipeg on internet who don't give a damn and prefer Seattle over us. Thanks.
Edit: I won't erase this comment. I'll specify: canadian fans prefer Seattle. So much for the patriotism.

Wow sucks we lost the 1,000+ page thread, oh well. With regards to Seattle it wouldn't surprise me if the Panthers ended up moving there in 5 years or so, seems the team is getting pretty close to where Phoenix was in 09. I love this talk that the NHL can get so much for expansion but not as much for relocation. While that is normally true because the NHL just charges X amount of dollars after the sale to relocate the team, but in this case, the NHL owns the team, they can charge whatever the hell they want for it to go to Quebec/ Seattle. We don't know a lot of what's going on behind the scenes. What if PKP said he refuses to pay what the NHL is asking and all this Seattle talk is either trying to get PKP to pony up the cash or maybe its saying he blew his shot at the NHL. If it dosen't pan out for Quebec, does it really surprise anyone, honestly? Hamilton has gotten the shaft from the NHL more times than the city can count. I even think TODD is partially right and that the team will stay in Glendale another season, its pretty late to move the team at this point. I'm just glad Columbus is looking like its finally getting support. If they can keep it up, only Phoenix (unless they move) and Florida are the desperatly struggling teams left in the NHL.

I think you guys are smart enough to understand that you can build with an expansion team and also smart enough to know that any team is better than no team. We would have taken an expansion team here if that was our only choice. I want a team Quebec badly. My wife is from Sherbrooke and all my in-laws live in the province of Quebec.

Most Jet fans have great empathy for Quebec fans.
