bid deal. MTS Centre is the worst arena in pro sports.... period!
Ask TNSE why it takes 5 years to improve the scoreboard?

^^^ This is just a stupid comment! Have you ever heard of ARCO arena in Sacramento(NBA) the Bradley Center in Milwaukee(NBA) Oracle Arena in Oakland(NBA) Joe Louis Arena, Rexall Place or the Calgary Saddledome??? MTS is bear bones and yes it's not the best but it gets the job done. IF MTS was as crappy as you think it is NHL would never let you have the team. The day you guys got the team Bettman's exact words were in an interview after the press conference "I don't think we'd be standing here today without this building".

Bettman was right. We would not have gotten the team back with out the new building. What he means by that it allowed possible owners to step up and take control of the revenue. 14% of sales increase on avg the team makes with a new arena.
At this point I don't think the Jets will survive another 10 years without some form of gov't funding (shark club VLT's) Soon enough Jets fans will stay away. So the building really has nothing to do with it.

NO. It's a lot more than that. While it's true that every team needs to control their own revenue in every sport every building still has minimum standards it has to meet or else it won't work. For example an NHL/NBA building has to have the following things, 1. Enough modern Luxury suites(Jets have 55 luxury suites+2 party suites) which is adequate 2. Enough club seats(the jets have 2064 club seats which is adequate) 3. You have to have enough seats(15,000 was what Bettman told Chipman was the bear minimum) 4. You have to have enough seats in the lower bowl. If you have enough seats but too many are in the upper bowl(Milwaukee Bucks/Calgary Flames) it don't work MTS meets this standard. 5. You have to have enough food places/team shops to sell crap(MTS meets this standard) 6. You have to have an adequate roof so concerts don't bypass your arena. Bands need to hang stuff from the ceiling for their shows. Top bands constantly skip the Saddledome due to that stupid roof. MTS doesn't have this problem and gets plenty of concerts. MTS will be around for another 20-30 years. MTS wouldn't be doing the 2020 plan if a new arena was in the works. A new arena would cost at least 500M these days. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN SOON since MTS is only 10 years old. Jets are about middle of the pack in revenue. They are NOT going to need government help. Jets have a 8000 capped season ticket waiting list. Everyone who's tickets were up after the 3 years mostly renewed. Jets aren't every going to have any trouble selling tickets with a 15,004 seat building due to the supply demand curve. At worst if the Jets keep sucking they might have to accept a tiny bit of revenue sharing for a few seasons. Look I think every Jets fan would agree they wish MTS was better but Chipman built the bear minimum because there was no guarantee Winnipeg would ever get NHL back. MTS is what it is. It's the bear minimum of what is acceptable for an arena. You should try and be realistic in your posts instead of making fantastic claims of struggling attendance. You do have a point about the JETS 1.0 history. Instead of trolling/posting unrealistic things do something productive. Start a thread to organize a rally vs. Phoenix to get the Jets 1.0 history back. It worked in Charlotte. Biggest flaw with both the ownership+MTS Centre is the /history of Jets 1.0 are missing

Having been to my first game this year now, I really really love the new additions to the 300 level concourse. The extra washrooms really make a difference. The new corner bars really bring the class level up alot. They're so nice and have more than just Bud/BudLight. I also like the nice view of the street corners. It feels like your in a bar as opposed to in an arena concourse. I have yet to try the new concession stand in the NE corner but It looks nice also.

more washrooms is great, but the new/improved concessions in the N-E Corner , along with the new mens bathrooms in the same corner makes that entire area at intermission a nightmare. the men's bathroom line-up (4 or 5 guys wide) overwhelms the lineup at the consession counter. They put a temporariy devider there but it doesn't work very well. Total bottle-nec. And for those of us that do use the N-E mens bathroom...when you walk in....go straigt to the far end...80% of those urinals/stalls are not even being used because no one knows they're ven there!
As I mentionned in another thread , if attending a game in the 300 level with someone under 10 years old....bring a tether cord or make sure you have a death grip on your kids arm....otherwise you may lose them!
On a positive note, if they keep losing...there may be more room to walk around up there soon...you know what I mean?
