Yup, the Shreveport Pirates, with their 100% American roster, sure took the League by storm, didn't they? So did the Las Vegas Posse, Sacramento Gold Miners, and Birmingham Barracudas. Oh. Wait. m.

If this rule did not exists the league would consist of 95% American players, mentioning a bunch of one year team that got thrown together and had to learn the game on the fly means nothing.

It'll never be the best talent in the world so why not ensure the league has a Canadian backbone? It also breeds Canadian football development. Absolutely a good rule. The CFL would die within a few years without it.

to state that the players in that league have very little leverage very good then. i can agree with that. taking shots at the quality of the league though is poor. no i find the quality of the players decent actually, second best football players in the world. Some pretty goodp players make the jump and do very well. certain rules i dont like however I like the bigger field, metric system matches up better and it reminds me of international ice vs north american ice situation I like the extra man for the field size though im not sure its really necessary. I hate 3 downs. Hate hate hate hate hate it. Football should be smash mouth and 3 downs takes physical size down a peg...its candian football history yea i get it. but it takes away offensive pacing and strategy. And on top of that i hate forward motion takes skil out o the reciving gmae. Takes a lot more ability to run a route out of a set position....oh and its always offsides. I dont care what Canadians say those guys are pretty much always off. rouge? meh its a relic but it makes for some unique ends to games. not sure i like the fact d linemen have to be a yard off the ball...seems like a walking concussion.

Sport is about being the best, and when you make rules to let lesser players play because where they where born it cheapens the sport, maybe that why the CFL is what it is.

Deal reached, no strike and many of the players are apparently not happy with the deal and pissed at the CFLPA calling the whole thing just a giant waste of everyone's time.
