The Damause article and his like isn't entire accurate. That 750M figure counts stadiums for BOTH teams though it does count the debt from mount davis too which is a sunk cost. The Raiders are about 600M short on just the stadium BUT one thing to remember about Coliseum City is it's a much bigger project than what Wolff would do and the Raiders DO NOT own all the land they need. City would likely need to use eminent domain to take it so you have to factor in the cost for that. Wolff's project only uses land the city owns. This is such a no brainer on what to do but Oakland is so dumb.

Why do they want the NFL over MLB so badly? I mean especially the fact that it is such a pain in the ass to keep the NFL and you're throwing away the MLB by doing so. What is with all these city councils being so god damn stupid regarding sports teams.

What is with all these city councils being so god damn stupid regarding sports teams. The nfl is sexier, its the most popular league in america for 19 weeks its is the headline of every sports talk across the nation. So when we tak about glendale we tak about them wanting to be "major league". Oakland gets enamoured with being and NFL city that its willing to piss away the other major league team that wants to privately finance a stadium and privately finance a retail center on the smae spot, but to them all they see is "OH MY GOD NFL MIGHT LEAVE PAY MONEY INSTEAD OF MAKING IT!!!" These people are really really dumb but it will only last so long, Mark Davis may not be able to keep the team and after the bills sell for around 1.3bil selling may look more attractive to the gamily

Im researching the estate tax issue. the team is owned by his mother, when it does pass to him though it may need to be sold because of the estate tax situation, His mother most likley acquired it in some sort of creative trust but sometimes these trusts can only last for so long to be legal.
I think the NFL will find a way to pry the raiders away from the davis family

NO ONE cares for the Raiders. 1 time over 60,000 in 14 years. What a pathetic joke!!!!

What is with all these city councils being so god damn stupid regarding sports teams. I think the city council is still living in the 60's/70's when the Raiders were once popular in Oakland. When they left for LA the 49ers won 5 super bowls in the time they were gone. Everyone in the Bay area is a 49ers fan almost because of this. I could see keeping the team if it was popular or if you were trying to "save" a new facility but none of these things are in play. If Oakland keeps the Raiders over the A's the Oakland city council would have to be considered even dumber than the Glendale city council.

It's not going to happen. It's Oakland or bust. San Jose is DEAD!

no way the MLB stands up to an owner, or a player, or anyone.

Will Montreal ever get another team at this rate?

Its more of a 5-10 year plan for Montreal. Tampa stadium situation needs to be sorted out eventually

Will Montreal ever get another team at this rate? Sure I just don't think anytime soon unless the A's move. Tampa is locked in until 2027. A city like Charlotte or San Antonio(longer shot) needs another 20 years growth until they probably would be ready for MLB if Montreal needed an expansion partner. Montreal will get a team someday as long as they can build a park when ready. Be patient and root for more immediate goals for Canadian sports like the return of the Nordiques and a new arena for the Flames to replace that goofy roofed crap hole. Expos are more of a long term goal along with an NBA return to Vancouver, a new Jays stadium and perhaps a 2nd team in Ontario.

Yep we can only hope. I think 13 is the lucky number long term. Or maybe 14 if we look really long into the future(Saskatoon-NHL if it keeps growing like wild fire)
