I'm sure if it was as simple as show the city they'll all make more money without the team the panthers would have left a long time ago. Lots of buzz this time though so who knows. But if the city ever gives them the green light to move the panthers are gone in a heartbeat no question. I just dont think they have looked at it..since the team really hasnt been threatening and the arena makes money...it does make money and it has nothing to do witht he panthers, The problem is What i like to call the Mikecubs Major league theory. These rinky dink towns want to be major league and convince themselves that in order for an arena to work it must be anchored with a "major league tenant"...then Kansas City comes around and they dont even want a damn team....arenas can make money without anchor tenants...maybe broward county will learn

^^^ The "major league" theory is something I've copied from commenters on Field of schemes. They always joke when a new stadium/arena gets approval that at least that city is "major league".
Biggest problem here may not be the major league theory like I thought it was. Biggest problem is the dam arena makes money and attracts too many concerts so the Panthers are making money overall. That's why I don't think the team will leave. They lose the master lease if they leave. If the county tells the team go to hell no public money for you I still think they stay. Viola saw what happened in Glendale so he's trying to copy that to make bigger overall profit. In Glendale the Coyotes true needed the $$$ from city council because unlike the arena in Sunrise Gila River arena SUCKS at attracting other events.

Well my wonder is if viola tries to weasel the team out of the arena and keep the lease. thats the point of the study to see if the panthers can be let go and be fine...maybe he says i can relocate the team bt i want to keep the lease and I have shown i can make it profitable.

^ That's what I think he's trying to do. Renegotiate the lease without the team and work it so both the city and the arena managers make more money

There's no FREAKING way the county would be this dumb. They'd hire an outside arena manager and keep the profit for themselves. If your not going to get the $$$ from concerts and give it to Viola then you may as well require him to keep the team so you can be "MAJOR LEAGUE".

In comparison...although the total will be less. This is what hockey is like in a real US hockey area My favorite U MASS LOWELL RIVERHAWKS. Crowd has been nuts the last few years, and the team has taken the area by storm. REally positive for the region. i used to get in for free...now i can only get standing room...and when ND comes to town? forget about So yea. Thats real hockey in america. Not whatever florida is doing.

If Panthers leave county would keep the $$$ for themselves if they are NOT going to be Major League. Otherwise by now the Panthers would be gone. Everyone and their brother would have had the keep the arena for concerts/flip the team to Quebec for huge $$$ idea. I don't argue for 1 second the market sucks. I don't dispute the crowds will be horrible. Still the problem is the whole operation makes $$$. To be fair not only do you have to show the empty hockey crowds you have to show the FULL crowds for concerts.

They are artificially linked. If the panthers go the arena still draws concerts.
