just curious where you were during 2004-2011?? were you part of ROTJ? my guess is you were not. just another misbeliever/hater of someone who did what e believed in, in helping to get the team back you guys weere a dime a dozen when the announcment was made that the team was coming back. you were also a part of a large contingent that laughed that we were dreamers and to give it up! your opinion is not valued....ever get lost will ya? Wow... did you seriously just put that much speculation into one post? You're seriously talking out your ass that I was a "misbeliever" or "hater". You must be one of DF buddies to get so defensive of my post. I was a ROTJ member, I moved to Winnipeg in 2009 and and only found out about the site at that time. Forgive me for not being OG like some of you. To speculate that I was a hater or misbeliever, where do you even get that from? I've been a season ticket holder since the beginning and even though I now spend half the year away from Winnipeg, I still fly back JUST to go to games. As for you valuing my opinion, well, your ludicrous post shows your value. ummm...this is interesting. i NEVER quoted you. somebody here did that. my quote was to muddy waters, not you. also, since we are talking about what i wrote. i was in the wrong. i was DEAD WRONG to write what i wrote, in the tone that i wrote it in. i read that post and im in utter embarrassment over it. this is a PUBLIC APOLOGY to all of you. im not DF's buddy, but i hold him in high regard. that i wont apologize for. i also wont apologize for sticking up for him when he gets bashed. but.....i COMPLETELY went about it wrong last night, and that is on me. but i tell you again. i DID NOT quote you. thats some funny business.

On the other hand, TNSE is very hands on with control of who will see games or at least how they will see them. They seem to like to be in complete control of the distribution/redistribution of tickets (via SeatExchange/Ticketmaster) and that may very well include any charitable giveaways; I'm just speculating but basing it on what I see happen with my own tickets when I can't make it to a game. That would seem a little bizarre. Ford must have had approval when he launched Jake's Tickets. I don't understand why TN would suggest winding it down, as it would look really bad on the Jets organization.

Obviously I can't say for sure one way or the other, but I can say that it doesn't make sense.

I don't understand why TN would suggest winding it down, as it would look really bad on the Jets organization. I can't speak to whether approval was sought or anyone's motivations. Anyone can speculate on that and only one person knows the true answer. Since Jake's tickets came and went with no media mention that I can recall, I don't see how the Jets organization would be affected. All I can do is try to put myself in the position of wanting to start a charity to donate Jets tickets. If the Jets organization called and said they have a charity set up to do exactly what I'm planning to do and said they'd prefer to carry the ball, which they are much better equipped to do since they control the source of all tickets, I'd probably think that was pretty great and my charity would quietly go away. On the flipside, if they were very confrontational and threatening me with legal action and cease and desist orders, etc., I'd probably go to the media with it and yeah it would look really bad on the Jets organization. I would humbly suggest the first scenario seems most likely...but again, that is nothing but pure speculation by me since I didn't actually follow the Jake's Tickets initiative and I have know idea who discussed what, how, where or when.

In any case, JHF rules don't have allowance to gossip about other JHF members.
If someone knows the answer to the original question, please PM it to one of the staff.
Or, it seems unlikely, but if he'd like to login and weigh in on it himself sometime. Darren Ford is welcome to answer it...

Here are the responses I have received:
WASAC:
"Thanks for the inquiry xxxxx about Jake’s Tickets. We ran that program with the support of Darren Ford and the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation. Mr. Ford very graciously offered tickets to many youth that came up through WASAC’s programs. We only ran the program for the one season as the tickets were Mr. Ford’s.
I am unsure if True North has replaced Jake’s Tickets with a similar cause but I know that this program came from Mr. Ford’s generous donation of tickets. I hope that helps with your questions.
Thanks for the questions and have a great week." -----
True North Foundation:
Really appreciate the email inquiring about Jake’s tickets. That particular initiative was completely on Darren Ford’s good will. Those were actually his personal tickets and he chose to donate a set of two out. We had nothing to do with that particular initiative. Thanks for the email." -----
It's too bad Jake's tickets only was for the 2011-12 season. Hopefully someone from the business community, or an individual who has the financial means can replicate the idea of Jake's tickets in the future.
