These arenas sure don't seem to last long.
The current arenas will last a long time if you count renovations. The trend has been to renovated the 90's arenas in the NBA and a lesser extent the NHL.
Going by order of pre 2000 arenas
New York(1968) $1B renovation
Minnesota(1990) is currently undergoing a $138-$141M renovation. The public is on hook for 57.41% of the cost
targetcenterrenovation.com/timeline.phpUtah(1991) is currently undergoing a $125M renovation including a glass type atrium on 2 sides of the building to expand the concourse, new seats, new scoreboard, new concourse stuff. The public is on hook for 20.64% of the cost
www.sltrib.com/csp/mediapool/sites/sltrib/Pages/gallery.csp?cid=4381810&pid=3741478Phoenix(1992) will either be renovated which don't require a vote or a new arena will be built which will require a vote. I predict a renovation
Chicago(1994) got a privately funded $100M atrium added
Cleveland(1994)- they are adding a glass atrium for $140M.
www.theqtransformation.com/images/solutions4.jpgThe public is on hook for half the cost. This isn't official yet because there are lawsuits. Work was suppose to begin the summer.
Boston(1995)- Has undergone at least $70M in renovation all private
Portland(1995)- Has undergone $15M in renovations a few years ago all private
Philadelphia(1996)- No renovations yet
Washington(1997)- No major renovations yet. Last fall there was talk that in 7 years the team was going to demand renovations or a new arena. Bet on renovations because the arena is perfectly located.
Toronto(1999)- Has undergone $50M plus in the last 7 years in renovations.
Atlanta(1999)- $192.5M in renovations. They needed the most because of the poor design/Atlanta Spirit trashing the place. This was the only arena with the suites stacked on 1 side design. Ted Turner the owner at the time was a baseball guy NOT a hockey/basketball guy.
New Orleans(1999)- $50M on adding a glass atrium/etc. The public paid for it all because New Orleans in horrible for sports subsidies.
Denver and the 2 LA teams were 1999. Nothing yet
Indiana(1999) Nothing yet but there's talk of a lease extension for a major renovation. Current lease is through 2024
Next arena is Dallas 2001.
San Antonio(2004) got a $111.5M in 2015. All the seats were replaces etc.. The public paid for over 3/4th because texas is horrible for subsidies.
FYI, Detroit(1988) is moving to the Redwings new arena next year but it's not 100% official. NBA needs to approve it and a law suit giving the team $34.5M to add locker rooms/make the building NBA ready needs to be beaten back.

St. Louis Blues(1994) The are getting a $138M renovation with the public on hook for about $48%. New scoreboard/seats/restaurants
Vancouver Canucks(1995) No major renovation at once put they've put over $100M in upgrades over time. Plus 3 huge towers(2 connected) are being built outside the arena.

Florida Panthers(1998) Nothing. They should just let the team go.
Toronto Maple Leafs(1999) See above
Colorado Avalanche(1999) Nothing
Los Angeles Kings(1999) Nothing
Carolina Hurricanes(1999) There were plans of a renovation I posted about a year and a half ago
As far as ANY pro sports team leaving a 90's or later sports facility there are a few cases.
1. Atlanta Braves(MLB). They left Turner Field built in 1996 for the Olympics(the Braves started play here in 97) for a new northern suburban Cobb county park. Most of the Braves fans/rich area is northern Atlanta. Turner Field is being converted into a college football field.
2. Texas Rangers(MLB) they are leaving their 1994 ballpark in Arlington for a new park right next to it in 2020 that will cost $1B with the pubic on hook for half. The pubic voted yes on it. The reason for the new park is a retractable roof(Texas heat). It was too costly to put one on the old park. The last president George Bush was the owner at the time who decided to go without the roof. In Texas for any sports facility the pubic will ALWAYS vote yes. They build million dollar high school football stadiums there. If Texas didn't have oil they'd go broke on sports.
3. Atlanta Falcons(NFL) Last season was the end of the Georgia Dome(1992). It was a depressing non opening dome without a lot of club seats. The owner paid for a good chunk of the new $1.5B stadium.
4. St. Louis Rams(NFL) left the 1995 Edward Jones Dome to privately finance a $2.66B dollar shared stadium with the Los Angeles Chargers.
At risk are
1. Ottawa(NHL) 1996 bad location
2. Arizona(2004) no explanation needed
3. Washington(NFL) There's talks of replacing the 1997 Fed Ex Field. The team is in talks with Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Virginia will probably be dumb enough to give a ton of public land and $$$. The governor is already talking about the wonderful economic impact 10 home games per year will have. Dan Snyder must have a new stadium because Jerry Jones got one and he's envious of it.
In baseball you can throw in Tropicana Field(1990) for the rays but that don't really count since it's a million miles from Tampa and is a non retropark depressing non opening dome. They really do need a new park.
The Islanders are also at major risk of leaving/being kicked out of the 2012 Barclays Center. The Grizzlies of the NBA left the 1995 Rogers Arena and the Thrashers did leave Phillips Arena but there were other teams in those buildings.
