The Bucks opened their new arena last Friday and beat Indiana(like their toughest and only competition in the Division). Attendance was listed as 17,341 so I assume that is capacity rather than 17,500.
Game 2 vs. New York they won again but attendance was 16,228 only. So the sellout streak ends after 1 game. LOL
The Milwaukee Bucks(not a typo) LOL have won their 1st championship since 1971 when Kareem Addur-Jabar and Oscar Robinson lead them to their only title in franchise history. 65,000 people were outside the arena during the game in the deer district.
Milwaukee got very lucky. Giannis Antekompo(sp) signed a super max extension with Milwaukee before the season, the only super star to stay with a small market team(other than Damien Lillard/Portland though I don't consider him a true superstar) for his 3rd contract. After the game he said he had unfinished business and he had no desire to join a super team in a big market because that would be the easy way out. Milwaukee gave away their entire future/draft picks to get Jrue Holliday from New Orleans ala the Clippers/Paul George. Holliday is 31. The risk pays off.
Of course 3 people were shot after than game(non life threatening) a few blocks from the arena since it is Milwaukee.
