The Jets prospects are now last overall in the 30-team AHL. What's wrong with this team? Aren't these mostly the same guys who made it to the Calder Cup Finals in 2014?? How long until the coach Keith McCambridge gets fired?
I'd be much, much more upset if the Jets were last overall in the NHL, but come on. We're supposed to have some of the best young prospects in the NHL. What's wrong with this team.

Jets approaching last in the NHL and Moose last overall in the AHL...just looking at what we're doing in those two leagues today it's going to be one heluva wild satisfying ride on our way to that 2019 Stanley Cup! Winning the Calder Cup, I'm not as sure about that.

Tanking for draft picks right? Oh wait...
But seriously, very few of the Jets top prospects are playing with the Moose. The only ones you'd consider to be legitimate NHL prospects are Petan, Morrissey and Comrie, the latter of which was an All-Star goalie for by far the worst team. The rest of the Jets best prospects are either already with the Jets or still playing in NCAA or CHL. As a result the Moose are pretty terrible. Really don't think we should equate the Moose with our top prospect pool.

It doesn't personally upset me much. I'm 1000 times more emotionally invested in the NHL Jets than our minor league affiliate. Still... 2 years ago this franchise made it to the Calder Cup Finals... how we've fallen!

Two years ago the IceCaps were also stocked with decent veteran players who were no longer going to be NHL players but were serviceable AHLers. The Moose now have shed those guys in favor of developing the very young players they have in the system. This team is a LOT younger then the IceCaps of 2 years ago. It's now about guys learning how to be pros and that's what it should be.

I'd rather have some skilled veterans out there so the players acquire a taste for winning. I don't like the idea of having our younglings join the Jets with a culture of losing ingrained into them.
Let them come to the bigs with the feeling that they should win every game, not feeling that they are lucky to win a game.

^ A guy like Slater would of been great for the Moose. Maybe in the future.

The Moose have a number of guys who are in their late 20's and early 30's. The problem is those guys are not performing as well as they have in the past.
John Albert - past 2 seasons over 40 points, including a 28 goal season 2 years ago. This year, 19 points. Matt Fraser - twice over 30 goals in the AHL, even last year had 20. This year, 4 goals and 11 points. Matt Halischuk - never going to light up any league, but still would expect more than 4 goals and 10 points. Then you have guys like Cormier, Harrison and Raffl who I think either more production was expected of or should provide leadership to the young players.
The Moose have veterans, including some proven AHL scorers, but these guys have not produced this year. Instead the young players are carrying the team. So I think the Moose had the right idea, and executed a plan to surround their young guys with some leadership and a bit of talent without taking all the top roles away from them. It just hasn't turned out that way this year. It's not as if the entire roster is 23 and under.
