Kevin Cheveldayoff, General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets, today announced the hockey club will not be renewing the contract of Keith McCambridge as Head Coach of the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ American Hockey League affiliate. “This morning we informed Keith McCambridge that we will not be renewing his contract for the 2016-17 season as Head Coach of the Manitoba Moose. We thank Keith for his professionalism, leadership, and coaching over the past five seasons as well as for his previous years of service as a Moose Assistant Coach. His commitment and hard work during two separate periods of transition for our AHL franchise should not be overlooked and is greatly appreciated. We wish Keith and his family all the best.” The Jets also announced they will not be renewing the contract of Manitoba Moose Video Coach Will Craig.

That'll solve all our problems. Let's see. Consistent success in St. Johns year after year. Move to Winnipeg, ownership guts the roster, team fails badly, coach released. Interesting recipe for success. m.

Another thought is after his time in the AHL perhaps he has a NHL opportunity as an assistant and the parting was mutual.

I am surprised by this move given what he had to work with all season. What did they expect from him plus the team did well attendance wise and it was a transition year. Hockey is a ruthless business!!

The wording of Chevy's press release doesn't sound like a mutual parting but it's possible the Jets couldn't offer him as good an opportunity as he thought he could get elsewhere...who knows. I'm not sure if he's a good developer of talent or not because I haven't seen nearly enough Ice Caps/Moose games, I can only guess that if Chevy thought the prospects were on track in their development he would have worked pretty hard to keep him.
Maybe not a fair question considering we've been told along that the cupboards were bare, but how many Jets regulars this season can we say were developed by McCambridge? Chiarot, Lowry, Postma, Hutch, Armia are the only guys I can think of...and the last 3 are a stretch considering Postma was a regular in the pressbox and Hutch and Armia didn't spend much time at all with the Jets AHL affiliate.
Still it seems a bit odd that Vincent and Flaherty get extended despite poor to mediocre results and McCambridge gets axed with an overall pretty decent W/L track record.

I'm not going to bother trying to read the minds of these guys. There's always an agenda.

Makes room or Hawerchuk now. Maybe. But I doubt it.

He did the exit interviews with the players and the media so it seems to me something has changed since then.Maybe it was initiated from the coach?

Makes room or Hawerchuk now. Hawerchuk just signed an extension with Barrie. True, but he almost certainly has a out clause for a pro job.

I'm thinking that this has more to do with the JEts than it does with the Moose. See my new thread in the Jets section.
