Vincent to take over Moose Jets assistant replacing McCambridge in AHL BY KEN WIEBE, WINNIPEG SUN Pascal Vincent is taking a step back in order to try and eventually take another step forward. After spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach with the Winnipeg Jets, Vincent will be unveiled as the new head coach of the Manitoba Moose at a press conference on Friday morning. Sources from outside the organization confirmed the hiring on Thursday afternoon. Vincent, 44, worked under Paul Maurice and Claude Noel, but has extensive experience in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as both a head coach and general manager. Since Vincent eventually wants to be an NHL head coach, this was the logical next step in the process, as he gets his first opportunity to run a team at the American Hockey League level. Vincent replaces Keith McCambridge, who spent the past five seasons as the head coach of the Jets' primary affiliate. The Moose missed the AHL playoffs last season after posting a record of 26-41-4-5, but had several prospects get an opportunity to play their first NHL game. The departure of Vincent from the NHL staff also leaves at least one vacancy, though it's possible a third assistant coach is added by the Jets to take on the role of the eye in the sky. Vincent became a lightning rod for the Jets' struggling power play, which finished 30th overall (14.8%) last season, but he was valued by Maurice for his sharp hockey mind. www.winnipegsun.com/2016/05/26/vincent-to-take-over-moose
