All great choices as Jets with significant historical meaning, but not necessarily Hall of Fame material. Here's my take.
Ab Mcdonald
No. Besides being the first Captain of the Jets he only had 2 seasons, 29 goals and 70 points.
Willy Lindstrom
In the Running. 8 seasons with the Jets. 20+ goals in every season.
Norm Beaudin
No. Again, besides being the first Jet ever signed and one year getting 100 points playing beside Hull, I don't think so.
Tom McVie
Hell No. Came in with Only 19 games in the final WHA season in which they won but was fired the next season, the first in the NHL, only to come back in 80-81 to amass a mind blowing 1-20-7 record.
Tie Domi
No. Great guy. Fan favourite but only 3 seasons.
Lars-Erik Sjoberg,
No. First NHL Captain but not much else.
Barry Long
No. Coached the Jets 1.0 to their best season in history but fired the next season.
Morris Lukowich
In the running. 7 consistent seasons with 22+ goals in each.
Dave Christian
No. Not even sure why he would be on anyone's list. Only 2 full seasons as a Jet.
Lucien DeBlois
No. Decent production, but only 3 seasons.
Thomas Steen
Absolutely. Nothing else to say.
Randy Carlyle
In the running. Played parts of 10 seasons with the Jets. Injuries shortened lots of them.
Kris King
No. Last Captain but Unless we are looking for an enforcer I would go with Domi.
Ben Hatskin
Yes. One of the founders.
Dave Simkin
This ones tougher. The other founder. Unfortunately died during the first Jets season and never gets the acclimation he deserved. Probably gets in.
Michael Gobuty
In the running. Part of the second Save the Jets group that eventually negotiated their way into the NHL. Most infamously known as the guy who didn't lose the Franchise to Nelson Skalbania in a game of backgammon.
Barry Shenkarow
HELL NO. He Sold the Jets 1.0. Why would we honour that???
Realistically speaking I think the following players will get in.
Paul McLean - 7 seasons with the Jets, 3rd all time in goals and points.
Doug Smail - 11 seasons, 3rd in games played and 4th in points.
Teppo Numminen - 8 seasons as a Jet and would have been more if the team didn't move.
Ron Wilson, Dave Babych, Laurie Boschman, Dave Ellett and Fredrik Olausson are up there as well.
As for Teemu, even though he only had 4 seasons with the Jets, I believe if the team wasn't in the situation it was in at the time I think he would have been here a long time. Also was the highest producing Jet at 1.32 points per game and having only played 231 games with the Jets, he's still 10th all time in points. Blake Wheeler just passed him last season.
Teemu gets in!
