He's filed for salary arbitration which is not unusual. The Jets will likely ink a deal. But what should that deal be?
56 GP. SOV% .907.2.89 GAA, SO 4, QS% is a poor .472 that puts him fourth worst in 50 games and above played. His QS number at 25, puts him at 27th. His GSAA is a very poor -9.96.
For goalies 50 gp and above last year Mrazek, Pickard,Lehtonen, Cam Ward had worst save % so he's close to the bottom of that list. Mrazek has 1 year left on his contract at 4 million AAV.
What is his AAV? As an example:
Thomas Greiss of the Islanders has two years remaining on his deal at 3.3 million AAV.
He played 51 games, .913 sv%, GSAA -.26, QS 30 (14th), SO 3, QS% .612. And he's the starter as was Helle last year but won't be this year.

I say 2-2.5MM...he still has talent and promise but nothing he's done up to now makes me feel certain that he's got a long NHL career ahead. Still much to improve and prove IMO.

Yeah a two year deal at that or 2.5-3.0. Thankfully Chevy has given himself more options and leverage now with him compared to after the Jets first season with Pavelec.

After being burned by Pavelec I suspect $1.5 or so.

About what I would have expected. I'm an optimist as it relates for Hellebuyck, but the one year deal may be better since Mason is most likely to be the starting goalie, and I feel the Jets gave Helle over $2,000,000 since they are still not 100% sure who will start most games. It also is beneficial, in the fact that if Mason shines in Winnipeg and plays 55+ games, the Jets can offer Hellebuyck considerably less next contract ($1.5 million or less). However it can backfire if Hellebuyck has a breakout season, takes over the starting role, and leads the Jets to the 2nd round of the playoffs, and puts up above average numbers. If that's the case, the Jets hand will be forced, since Helle will be wanting a contract similar to Mason's and the Jets will ahve to trade one of the goalies away in 2018.
It's all up in the air. It's a gamble by the Jets. If Hellebuyck rebounds, and plays better than Mason, I can see a repeat of the 2013-14 Pavelec-Montoya situation, where Montoya (the better goalie) was benched in favor of Pavelec many times, due to his salary.

The Jets had to sign Hutchinson to a contract to have a goalie to expose to the Vegas Draft. Now they have 3 goalie on one-way contracts.
Hutchinson is 27 has 99 NHL Games with a save % of .910. He is coming off a disappointing season , but compares well with guys that have the #2 spot locked up (Eddie Lack Cgy, Berube/Fosberg Chi 14 and 10 NHL games, Brossiot Edm for example).
Will the Jets trade Hutchinson.. Waiver him so he plays for the Moose? Would he get claimed on Waiver?

^ hutch would get claimed. He's on a favorable contact that's up after this season and is a low risk back up. Someone will take a chance on him

Having 3 goalies on a team is usually a bad situation. Comrie getting some minutes as an emergency back-up might not be a disaster.
