Why not? The vast majority of Winnipeg fans would like to proclaim Jets NHL history to include the 1979-96 Winnipeg Jets. True North should just outright ask the Coyotes for our history back. Most teams today in the NBA, NFL, and MLB that relocate leave the history of the franchise up until that point, with the city that the owners are departing from. Just like we should give the City of Atlanta the Thrashers history from 1999-2011 back, considering players like Kovalchuk, Hossa, and Heatley mean almost nothing to the average Jets fan. Just my two cents.

The reason I bring this up, is that Dale Hawerchuk is going to be honored in 2017-18, and there is talk of the Jets using their old 1.0 uniforms (like at the Heritage Classic).

Yes, they should get our history back just like the Charlotte Hornets 2.0 reclaimed their history from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Don't get the point of honoring Dale Hawerchuk with out it, really makes it meaningless. It's kind of like when the Yotes retired Dales number what was the point of that, nobody in Arizona cared or if we had all old Yotes players at the winter Classic old timers game, who would have went???
Time to fix the past, and they can if they really want too, just not sure they want to.

Just take it. It's our history really don't see the need to ask. Simply start honouring it.

This isn't even really a question. What jets fan dosent want the history honoured? TN seems to be coming around by honouring former jets players but I doubt they will fully embrace the jets 1.0 past as they have made it clear they want to establish their own brand and identity.

^why do people keep saying this. It is very clear that they want to embrace the previous Jets history. You only have to look at the heritage classic. They brought back hundreds of ex Jets to be there for it

It's not a matter the Jets "buying" the 1.0 history it's what the NHL (Bettman) would allow.
