I go for Helle. His SV % was not the stuff of top playoff hockey (around .900). He did end up with an overall .921 %. He let in some weak crucial goals. I think he was gassed and mentally tired. The SN panel stated that as well. Next year we'll need a stable backup to take more of the season load off of him.
Then Ehlers who was invisible and scoreless is the next disappointment.

Hard to single out one guy, Helle wasn't great, the untimely goals were killers for sure but our lack of goal production was pretty shocking. Kudos to Scheifele, he had a big target on his back through the whole playoffs but he's the true leader of the team on the ice for sure IMO...he gave his all.
I guess I'd have to say Ehlers is the biggest disappointment...looked overwhelmed by the regular season home stretch only to be more overwhelmed by the NHL playoffs. Wouldn't be surprised if he's been battling concussion symptoms or something for a while.

Waaay too easy to point fingers at Bucky. He didn't make the big save when needed but too many dumb give aways.

^ Hellebuyck in the postgame scrum seemed quite devastated. I don't think he deserves any more blame than anyone else, yeah the giveaways were atrocious! He was feeling the weight of it all no doubt...his first time to the dance and he was pretty good most of the way, but cocky confidence did not appear to be there last few games. This experience will only make him even stronger. He's also been subjected to physical punishment that would have left lesser goalies on the IR.

Little, no disrespect to him because I like what he's done for us and same with Chevy, but worst signing ever! And that is by the GM who gave Tobi a gazillion for what felt like forever...at least he was in his 20's when he got that contract.

Cant blame Helle. Easy to point the finger at the goalie when no body apart from Scheifele is scoring.
For me Ehlers. He doesnt even want to shoot! Why the hell are you even out there apart from dancing around like he is in the ballet.

Ehlers, with Laine coming in a close second. Stastny was also pretty much invisible.
The second line was shut down in that series. Ehlers never shot. He had the speed, chances, and opportunity, but he was always looking for Laine it seemed. If the Jets had crashed the net in Vegas, I think the series may have had a different outcome. Helly didn't have a good series, but he was great today and showed up. The Jets looked defeated mentally, and burnt out the whole game. It was disappointing, but they simply had nothing left in the tank at the end. The Nashville series took too much out of them.
I actually believe that if the playoff format were different. and we faced Vegas after the Wild series, we would have won.

They were all bad....
They were all expecting the other player to do it....
Maybe winning Game 1 was the worst thing that happened......

Fleury is why the Knights won the series. Combined with Vegas making fewer mistakes, and their fore-check being excellent. Aside from Hellebuyck and the 2nd line, most players were playing well. We just did not get the brakes we needed, and failed to put pressure on MAF.

Yes, Vegas was good, better even, fine, however, then again the circular argument can be made again, that this happened because of the very generous rules during the expansion draft.

Laine was brutal in the offensive zone. He stopped skating and stopped hitting when he should have increased both. He is a big man and some physicality was needed.

I agree it is hard to single out one player and the fact they made it this far makes it hard for me to point fingers as they did face a team the had 2 relatively easy series, played a smothering system, has a hot goalie and had its fair share of puck luck. I would say I was dissapointed that no Jet took their game to the next level during the series and the big guys like Buff, wheeler and scheif looked gassed after game one. For the young guys, it was a new experience that hopefully they learn from and the is why I won’t Blame any one as that is too easy. I’ll say many were either overwhelmed by the situation or were caught in the trap of trying so hard they didn’t play their game or couldn’t because of injury or fatigue. Perhaps, the adjustments were made too late ie. inserting Morrow in fir the last game instead of earlier. I’ll close with who impressed me and that was Roslovic and Morrisey they can build around those guys in the future. I
