I took a cab tonight and am shocked by the new rates.....
Normally from my buddies place in St. James to the southend where I live it used to cost $19 if you hit the lights and not too many trains or slowpokes in traffic.
Tonight it cost $26......
It used to be .10 cents travel time, now its .16 cents travel time...
These jokers that now set the rates at city hall have increased the travel times by 60%
I couldn't believe what I was seeing as this thing began vacuuming my wallet before my eyes.
I'm not going to blame one person or another specifically at City Hall, but this is ridiculous now that it is not regulated by the PUB or Taxi Board.
I thought our rates before were outrageous in comparison to cities in the States, this is a whole new level of pigging out at our wallets, punished even more for doing the right thing by not drinking and driving.
I guess there will be much less visiting over drinks unless its in my living room.

Try Tapp car or Cowboy taxi, I believe those are two rides services operating in the city. I haven't used them myself but have heard good reviews from others.

I invested in an eBike a couple of weeks ago. Haven't taken it to any parties yet but it seems like a nice way to avoid DUIs.
OT but I'm loving that eBike. It's a blast to ride and it's dirt cheap to operate.

There are eBikes that can go 90+ KPH that require a plate and a motorcycle endorsement and I'm guessing that you can get a DUI on those. But the typical eBike like mine (limited to 28 MPH) I think the worst that you can be charged with is public drunkenness or some similar charge. m.

I used TappCar a couple times to get from my place to downtown during Jets playoffs. Always cost me slightly more than a cab. And I thought it would be like Uber where you got to see the fare ahead of time... but nope. Not much different than a cab and for me, was more expensive than the cab rides I had taken the previous few times.
