Yes, rangers were on and also apparently the game was a 5 pm start time, not exactly fan friendly on a weekday It was Colombus Day in the States yesterday, so the 5pm should hve been ok, seems like they started it then to try t avoid the Rangers game Not everyone gets the day off work of Columbus Day

Like the previous poster implied, scheduling a game for that day & time on Columbus Day is 100% counterproductive to the fans.

Oct 15, 2011 Columbus @ Dallas: 8,305We'll have to wait until the World Series is over but last night it was game 6 of the ALCS in Texas and I imagine Columbus isn't a great draw in many markets.

True, but that's been the excuse for 3 games already. I'm not sure how many home games the Stars will have during the World Series but these attendances are surely doing serious harm to the bottom line.

The Stars have a couple more home games in late October. Depending on the world series results, the WS may still be on during one or both of those games.
But the Stars have a home game on November 4, and then a pile of home games in the second half of November. By the end of November, their attendance pattern should be well established.

I think Stars attendance will be even worse during WS games than it was so far, but afterward it should go up. However if it doesn't go up again it will be pretty bad. I can't imagine how a team can have worse attendance than Phoenix.

I can't imagine how a team can have worse attendance than Phoenix. Yup, in Phoenix traffic is bad, the game srats too early, the Cards are playing a home game in two weeks, ASU BB ball is on, the Suns are popular, the Suns aren't playing, it's a full moon. Phoenix is.... ;D

As per ESPN NHL Attendance site, we are currently ranked 22nd in the league! That's impressive considering we have the smallest rink. espn.go.com/nhl/attendanceThey also have us listed as only playing one home game and 15004 being only "99.9%" attendance. They only put up the one game yesterday...they still haven't acknowledged the home opener...although that obviously wouldn't change the home average.

Phoenix suites: I wish I took pictures of just the box suites. They were either empty or packed with Jets fans. I remember repeatedly hearing over the last 15 years that 'Winnipeg doesn't have the corporate support'. Well clearly Winnipeg does, and places like Phoenix do not. I just can't see how this whole 'corporate support' thing was used as an excuse for so long, when the box suites in Phoenix just collect dust? Heck, even if Phoenix sells-out all of their $20-$35 seats, they can't possibly make a profit without corporate support. An interesting foot-note to all this. Our box suite was right beside the City of Glendale's box suite. City employees get free tickets to it. Out of 76 seats in that box suite, only two were used (and they left after the second period - when their team was up by a pair of goals). Spin it anyway you like Bettman; they can't even give box suites away in Phoenix.

About 4000-4500 of the fans there were reportedly Coyote fans. Pathetic.
