www.forbes.com/nhl-valuations/list/#tab:overallRank Team Current Value ($mil)1 New York Rangers $1.55 B2 Toronto Maple Leafs $1.45 B3 Montreal Canadiens $1.3 B4 Chicago Blackhawks $1.05 B5 Boston Bruins $925 M6 Los Angeles Kings $810 M7 Philadelphia Flyers $800 M8 Detroit Red Wings $775 M9 Vancouver Canucks $735 M10 Washington Capitals $725 M11 Pittsburgh Penguins $650 M12 Seattle $650 M13 Vegas Golden Knights $575 M14 Edmonton Oilers $540 M15 Dallas Stars $525 M16 San Jose Sharks $510 M17 Minnesota Wild $490 M18 St Louis Blues $465 M19 Anaheim Ducks $460 M20 New Jersey Devils $455 M21 Calgary Flames $450 M22 Tampa Bay Lightning $445 M23 New York Islanders $440 M24 Ottawa Senators $435 M25 Colorado Avalanche $430 M26 Nashville Predators $425 M27 Carolina Hurricanes $420 M28 Winnipeg Jets $415 M29 Buffalo Sabres $375 M30 Columbus Blue Jackets $320 M31 Florida Panthers $295 M32 Arizona Coyotes $290 MI added Seattle on my own. The average franchise value is $630M. Not the worst job, these are estimates but the Jets are too low. Yes the Canadian dollar is bad(down to 75 cents now) and the TV deal is outdated but I don't think Forbes is aware of True North Square development. They had the Jets with a $11M profit. They had them 20th in overall revenue(which is probably realistic(ish), 13th in gate revenue. The Islanders and Senators are too high, Calgary should probably be lower too given their arena problems. Carolina should be a few spots lower down the 30th. The things that stood out most to me are the Coyotes have a Debt/Value of 103%. The next worst one is the Islanders at 45%, then Florida at 39%. On the main sheet they say the Coyotes lost $11M but when you go inside the team profile you get this. snip- The Coyotes lost as much as $50 million last year (our profit figures are before interest, taxes and depreciation). Owner Andrew Barroway is trying to sell minority stakes in the team to investors. His valuation of the team: $500 million. That will be a tough valuation to get given the Coyotes had the second-lowest average attendance in the league in 2017-18 (13,040) and the third-lowest average local television rating on FS Arizona (0.35), 17% lower than the previous season Florida also lost $21M Good new is the St. Louis Blues have made a profit 3 straight seasons without the Rams($10M last year)!!!! Before that the never made a profit according to Forbes and the guys of HF boards have said in the Blues entire history they never made a profit(not sure if that's true) Detroit's revenue increased by $30M and profits went from $5.4M to $33M in year 1 at the new arena! Carolina only lost $3.9M. I'm of the opinion the market can be salvaged due to no other pro sports competition, fast growth rate and not that horrible of an arena location compare to Arizona/Florida.

Biggest takeaways are
1. The Coyotes are just abysmal. The NHL should move them to Houston. It would help the league greatly. I pray the Coyotes to Houston rumors are true. 2. The Panthers are stick out too though not as bad. Move them to Quebec. 3. Ottawa and Calgary need new arenas along with a new owner for Ottawa(Devcore)
You do those things you'd have a really strong league all of a sudden that feels totally major league. Vegas was a great addition and Seattle will be too.
Arizona and Florida can't be salvaged. It's looking like the Suns are going to get a $230M non hockey renovation to their arena approved this month. The area really can't handle 2 arenas so who is going to be stupid enough to build them a 3rd? Not enough concerts to go around. Plus who/which sucker will pay $700M for an arena?
Florida has the same problem. The Heat arena don't work for hockey. They did a renovation a few years ago too and the Heat extended the lease to 2035 with options though 2040. Given how badly the Marlins ripped off the tax payers who pays for a 3rd arena? Also not enough concerts for 3 arenas.

I'm actually surprised how high the Jets rank in gate revenues with such a small building...but the prices are relatively high and seats are quite full so maybe shouldn't be so surprising. There must be a lot of tickets that can be had for cheap in a lot of those cities.

I'm actually surprised how high the Jets rank in gate revenues with such a small building...but the prices are relatively high and seats are quite full so maybe shouldn't be so surprising. There must be a lot of tickets that can be had for cheap in a lot of those cities. Not surprising at all, the Jets have some of the best fans in the 4 major pro sports. 800,000 people, a poor dollar, an outdated local tv deal a year after it was signed, a compromise arena because ownership hedged their bets on if the NHL would come and with all that still a $11M profit!!!! Ticket prices by market according to forbes(all dollars US) 1 Boston Bruins $160 2 Chicago Blackhawks $130 3 Toronto Maple Leafs $120 4 New York Rangers $105 5 Montreal Canadiens $105 6 Edmonton Oilers $100 7 Vegas Golden Knights $88 8 Pittsburgh Penguins $87 9 Detroit Red Wings $85 10 Washington Capitals $85 11 New York Islanders $85 12 Vancouver Canucks $83 13 Winnipeg Jets $83 14 Philadelphia Flyers $82 15 San Jose Sharks $78 16 Los Angeles Kings $76 17 Minnesota Wild $74 18 Nashville Predators $70 19 Calgary Flames $65 20 St Louis Blues $62 21 Carolina Hurricanes $62 22 Anaheim Ducks $60 23 Buffalo Sabres $59 24 New Jersey Devils $58 25 Tampa Bay Lightning $57 26 Ottawa Senators $57 27 Dallas Stars $54 28 Columbus Blue Jackets $53 29 Colorado Avalanche $50 30 Arizona Coyotes $46 31 Florida Panthers $41

2019 rankings www.forbes.com/nhl-valuations/list/Rank Team Current Value ($mil)1 New York Rangers $1.65 B2 Toronto Maple Leafs $1.5 B3 Montreal Canadiens $1.34 B4 Chicago Blackhawks $1.085 B5 Boston Bruins $1 B6 Los Angeles Kings $850 M7 Philadelphia Flyers $825 M8 Detroit Red Wings $800 M9 Washington Capitals $775 M10 Vancouver Canucks $740 M11 Pittsburgh Penguins $665 M12 Seattle $650M13 Dallas Stars $600 M14 Vegas Golden Knights $580 M15 Edmonton Oilers $575 M16 New Jersey Devils $550 M17 San Jose Sharks $540 M18 St Louis Blues $530 M19 New York Islanders $520 M20 Minnesota Wild $510 M21 Calgary Flames $500 M New arena value NOT counted 22 Anaheim Ducks $480 M23 Colorado Avalanche $475 M24 Tampa Bay Lightning $470 M25 Nashville Predators $460 M26 Carolina Hurricanes $450 M27 Ottawa Senators $445 M28 Winnipeg Jets $420 M29 Buffalo Sabres $400 M30 Columbus Blue Jackets $325 M31 Florida Panthers $310 M32 Arizona Coyotes $300 M I added Seattle on my own again. The average franchise value not counting Seattle is $651.12M. The average Canadian team is worth $788.57M, the average US team $611M not counting Seattle. He put New Jersey way the **** too high. Yes they got a good local TV deal and play in the biggest market but attendance isn't that good. The Islanders are way too high, yes the new arena will get tons of events but the Islanders fan base sucks. More take aways. The Panthers lost $21M, the Coyotes $15M. He had the Jets posting their 1st losses ever at -$7.7M but he attributed that to an $82M payroll compare to $73M the year before and a short playoff run that pushed revenue down to $127M compare to $135M the year before. Not sure how he does his payrolls capology had the payroll last year at $74M. However capology did have the payroll rise from 11th at $68.6M to $74M from the year before. He also said he will rise Calgary a bunch in the future. He didn't add in the new arena much since there is no groundbreaking yet. The Senators owner is trash the the arena is in the middle of no where. The Senators should be lower until they get a real owner and arena downtown.

Keep in mind forbes counts the playoffs so a team like St. Louis is abnormally high.
Total NHL revenue was $5.086B $1.199B from Canada $3.887B from the US
AFTER revenue sharing. Keep in mind the dollar is at .75 cents in Canada, there are 2 bad arenas(one being replaced) and an insane one man wrecking crew in Ottawa, plus no Quebec
