October 23rd 1993 is the last time a Canadian team won a championship in any big 4 sport when Joe Carter homered off Mitch Williams to give the Jays a walk off 8-6 victory at the then Skydome(now Rogers Centre). Earlier that spring Montreal also won the Stanley Cup over the LA Kings. It's been 26 years and 158 to 161 seasons with current Canadian teams(depending on how you count Winnipeg Jets 1.0) or 180 if you count the Nordiques last 2 years in Quebec, the Expos last 11 seasons, the 6 years the Grizzlies were in Vancouver. I'm being kind and NOT counting the NHL lockout season Here are the sad numbers since the Jays last won NBAToronto Raptors- 23 seasons no title, they started in fall of 95 Vancouver Grizzlies-6 seasons not even a playoff birth Total-23 season/29 with defunct teams MLBToronto Blue Jays- 25 years without a title(that don't count this season) Montreal Expos- 11 seasons no title, none in their 36 year history either Total-25 seasons/36 with defunct teams NHLToronto Maple Leafs- 25 seasons, no titles since 1967 Montreal Canadiens- 25 seasons since a win Vancouver Canucks- 25 seasons, no titles in franchise history Edmonton Oilers- 25 seasons, no titles since 1990 Calgary Flames- 25 seasons, no titles since 1989 Ottawa Senators-25 seasons, they started play the year Montreal won it all Winnipeg Jets- 8 seasons since the return, 1.0 played 3 seasons after Montreal won it all Quebec Nordiques- 2 last seasons before moving to Denver Total-158 to 161 if you count 1.0 Jets as part of the current team/163 with defunct teams Overall- 158 to 180 seasons depending of how you count Jets 1.0/2.0 and former teams. The Cubs "only" went 108 seasons without a championship.

Durant will start and play tonight. RIP Raptors. I predict a 10 to 12 point Golden State win tonight, a blow out in game 6 and a 5 point(possible overtime) win for Golden State in game 7. No way does a team with 1 injured superstar, no second superstar and guys with long playoff choking histories like Kyle Lowry win it all.
I was listening the score in Chicago last night on the way to the gym. The host made a probably the greatest point I've ever heard about and sport. In basketball the best team usually wins because you don't have the randomness of the baseball playoffs, you don't have the hot goalie factor in hockey, you don't have the single game elimination of the NFL playoffs. He said if the Raptors won ALL basketball fans would be cheated because they are not the best team and they wouldn't be remembered and just a footnote in NBA history.
Raptor fans should root for Golden State too in my opinion. Championship teams(especially the 1st in in a franchise history or the 1st a long time) should be special. When the Cubs lost in 03(Bartman game) that team wasn't a champion and didn't deserve to win. Bartman was unfairly blamed by dumb Cub fans. They only won 88 games, had no bullpen, had guys like Prior/Wood who admitted they couldn't take the pressure(also see Moises Alou hissy fit). A team like that didn't deserve to break the curse. Waiting 8 years and breaking with that team(a complete team with no holes and no choke genes) was much more special. Raptor fans should feel the same. If Philly had more time to gel with the Butler and Harris trades the Raptors would have been out round 2.

Raptors choke, Durant goes down with injury Raptors have a 6 pt lead with 2 and a half minutes left and they blow it. Basketball is about GREATNESS and CHARACTER. You lack either it gets exposed in basketball than any sport. The Raptors lack both. Kwahi is hurt and is not a franchise player in the Kobe, LeBron, Jordan, Olajuwon, Magic, Bird category. Those guys close the game in that situation. Those guys rip out the Warriors heart with glee. Kawhi quit on the Spurs and one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time Greg Popovich. No one will win it any with him as your top player. He rode Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli's coattail's to a title.
Durant did what he needed to do tonight. The Warriors will blow the Raptors out in game 6. The Raptors don't have any character to with stand something like what happened just l like the 03 Cubs folded with Bartman. Game 7 they will keep it close but choke. Both Curry and Thompson are better players than Kawhi. The Warriors don't need Durant past this game.
The Raptors should bring in the 2003 cubs, 1986 red sox, 2011 texas rangers, 1990's Buffalo Bills to give the pre game speech for the next 2 games.

This is why the Raptors do NOT belong here. Toronto should do what Vancouver did. They wouldn't allow people to gather to watch the game outdoors. The Raptors don't deserve any support. They are an embarrassment. They should request to play both of the last games in Oakland so they don't have to walk off their home floor like the losers they are. The Raptors MUST blow this team up. If Kawahi wants to stay tell him how much better LA is. Not only is he a choker he's damaged goods. That leg thing he has is CRONIC. Plus his knee is now hurting him too. He's not going to age well. Tell him you'll do a sign and trade so you can get a few assets for him. Trade the rest off for what you can get asset wise which isn't much. The original plan was to make 1 finals, lose then blow it up. Stick to it.

Special shout out too Kyle Lowry for choking too. That last shot was NOT blocked. He couldn't even hit the him he was so nervous. LOL. I called it earlier today on that guy. Terrible mistake to not find a way to trade for Mike Conley. Siakim sucks too. Do NOT extend him. He can't play in the half court, he has no moves. Trade him to some sucker for a mid round 1st pick.

That was a bit too harsh a judgement call on Lowry, Mike. Missing shots is routine in the NBA, check the stats. Three point averages are around 35%. I think the last minute decision to go outside was the error they needed a two to win and Gasol was in the key and open. But next game's outcome odds became longer for the Warriors as KD is down and out for a long time, probably into next season. Besides they haven't won a home game yet😈.

It's not the miss that was the problem, he didn't hit anything except the side of the backboard. Hit the dam rim and give yourself a chance. That's Lowry's history. Choking. He should have went along with DeRozan.

So I keep hearing that everyone in Canada is rooting for the Raptors. we aren't at my house, F@@k Toronto
We have watched one minute so far, the last minute of game 5
True North is having a viewing party tomorrow night, wondering if they will get much of a crowd (I hope not)

I should have mentioned the 2 biggest losers the other day(no not Lowry, Kawhi or Nick Nurse calling the dumb time out). MLSE and the horrible white bandwagon hockey fans are the biggest losers. MLSE got greedy and have priced the tickets too high for most of the minorities (other than a few rich elites like Nav/Drake) that are the regular fans. The regular fans were literally left out in the rain while obnoxious people who've never watched a NBA game before the past 2 weeks have replaced them. Just a terrible crowd/vibe at the games. After Durant got hurt the entire section behind the basket started cheering/waving goodbye. You watch the video they are all white hockey/Leaf fans. Looks nothing and act nothing like the real Raptor fans. Then to make it worst look at what they did the Steph Curry's mom at the hotel. Real Raptor fans(mostly minorities) were glad the Raptors lost at home and want to win it on the road so this crowd don't get to enjoy it. forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1849953

Leave the Raptors to Toronto's minorities and some of Vancouver's. It's their team stop trying to live through the Raptors to make up for not winning a cup in 26 years. White Canada is HURTING the Raptors cause and just embarrassing themselves. The KD injury cheering and cursing at Steph's mom is running Canada's image and just firing up/motivating the Warriors. The Raptors are over-matched as it is. I wish both teams could lose the finals. The Warriors deserve to lose for blowing out KD's achillies/rushing him back, the Raptors deserve to lose for not being championship material, letting in such a rotten crowd and turning their backs on the real fans. Worst finals of any sport ever. A plague on both their houses. Only good thing about this finals is the way the real fans(mostly minorities) conducted themselves outside in Jurassic Park and on social media condemning the idiots who showed up to the game. You put those people inside and throw that trash away that showed up for the last 2 rounds maybe the Raptors get a close win in game 5 with the extra edge.

Toronto wins. Excellent for Toronto and its fans. But it was a pretty clumsy and a poorly officiated finals. Tough to watch at times.

They did it!!! Canada's ugly championship drought is over. It took a Klay Thompson knee injury to do it but a win is a win I guess. Give the Raptors credit for 3 wins in Golden State and playing the 2 last rounds with no home-court with the real fans shut out. Congrats to all the REAL fans!!!! They deserve this. Amazing follow the Raptors had all these years for a total trash product most of the time. Happy we never have to see another game in that pit Oracle Arena. Good of the Raptors for sending it out in shame.
I hope Kawahi stays since they won. Make a gentlemen's agreement where if you are healthy in a few years and Lowry/Gasol and the Raptors get too old they trade you to the team of your choice. The Raptors get O.G. Anuouby(sp) back new year. Maybe him and Siakiam can at least make another step to make up for Lowry/Gasol's age and Kawahi having to sit out 20+ games with "load management" if he returns.
Interesting NBA off-season coming. Besides Leonard Klay Thompson, Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker, Kris Middleton, Tobias Harris are all free agents. Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans. DeAngelo Russell is a restricted free agent.
I think things will be more wide open. Golden State isn't necessarily done if they bring in a bench. Durant I don't think will ever be the same with his achillies though and will miss most if not all of next year. Lebron is getting up there in age(35 in December). I think long term the fight for championships is going to come down to Giannis Antekoempo(sp) and where ever Anthony Davis ends up with the odd other team that gets hot winning a title here and there.

Klay Thompson tore his ACL last night and will miss at least part of next season. The Warriors will indeed offer both Thompson and Durant 5 year max contracts even though they will miss most if not all of next year. The Warriors should let them sit out the year, rest Curry with some BS injury and tank then come back the next year with a lottery pick and everyone rested with a year off. Knowing the Warriors they will run Curry into the ground with his ankle problems to try and make the playoffs and try to rush Durant/Thompson back to make a run as a low seed in the west.
