It has been announced that Dale Hawerchuck will have all of his stomach excised in January. The upshot of this is that he will have to graze his way through his waking hours from then on, and this will make it highly unlikely that he will be able to coach at the AHL or NHL level due to the stress, irregular hours and travel demands.

Wishing Ducky the best, its a tough operation and recovery. Yes, no coaching in his future, just day to day stuff. Here's thinking and hoping for you #10

Yikes! Is this a fairly standard thing with this type of cancer?

Yikes! Is this a fairly standard thing with this type of cancer? That would depend on how invasive the cancer is and how well it has responded to the chemo.

He has had his entire stomach removed. ( I had no idea you could do that ) Mostly it was uplifting. Encouraging people to hang in there if you are taking chemotherapy. It's hard but worth it. That there's more to life than money and work.....

It would appear that Dale's cancer has returned.

It would appear that Dale's cancer has returned. Too sad. He and his family will be in my prayers.

The quicker a cancer returns, the worse the prognosis.
