Canadian native and former Expos Larry Walker made the hall of fame last month on his final try. www.mlb.com/news/larry-walker-elected-hall-of-fameHe will go in as a Colorado Rockie since he played their the longest and put up his best numbers there but far. Most people thought he should have come up short due to Coors Field(thin air affect) He is the 2nd Canadian to make the hall of fame, former cubs pitcher Ferguson Jenkins was the 1st. Next to Jenkins Walker is the 2nd greatest Canadian MLB ever. Outside of hockey the only Canadians to make a hall of fame are Steve Nash-basketball Bronko Nagurski-pro football Arnie Weinmeister-pro football

This will eventually change as more Canadians are becoming prominent in other sports, primarily the NBA NBA is up to 20 Canadian players now and will probably expand to around 30 per year long term due to the Raptors title. What helps too is the basketball standards for hall of fame are a joke compare to the other sports. Similar to everyone getting a participation trophy just about anyone is let in. I think Joey Votto will also make it in baseball with support from the stat heads though it will probably close ala the Walker election. The stat heads love the walk rate and will fight like hell for him. Vlad Guerrero Jr. has the talent to make it just like his dad.
