As the season comes to a close, I wanted to thank the Jets for a competitive season, in spite of the loss of many of our stars of the past three seasons, especially our blue line. The team stuck it out, and if the season kept going, I was sure the Jets would grab a Wildcard spot, and perhaps make a run and upset a top seed team in the West. Sadly, that was not meant to be. The Jets-Oilers game will likely be the last NHL game for the team this season. I am proud of the team, and I will continue to live and die a Jets fan. F**K CORONAVIRUS!

Cart in front of horse? Thinking there is a better chance of the NHL playing the games with no fans in the seats as the next step, they need to talk to the players and the players association first.

MLS suspended now. ATP suspended. Pretty hard for the NHL to continue the season. All practices and team meetings suspended by NHL. Jets were ordered to remain in their hotel

It's a bummer but necessary. I'd have loved to see if they could have made it. It is what it is.

The NBA was the 1st to suspend their season. The reason being Utah Jazz all star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. Utah played at Oklahoma City last night and just before tip off after the player intros they pulled all the players off the court and told the fans to leave and quarantined and tested Utah players.
Today it was reveled his teammate all star Donovan Mitchell also tested positive. MLB got 5 spring training games in today and cancelled the rest(after 3 pm central). Then they announced that they will start the season at least 2 weeks late.

Rudy Gobert tried to prove he wasn't scared of the coronavirus touched all the microphones in a press conference.
Not sure if that's how he got it but if he did he may have helped actually slow the spread by getting the games cancelled. It's insane the sports leagues were allowed to have 1000's of people at games as long as they did. Greedy sports owner billionaires were going to keep going til the bitter end to keep making $$$.

Cart in front of horse? Thinking there is a better chance of the NHL playing the games with no fans in the seats as the next step, they need to talk to the players and the players association first. That was never going to happen. Hockey or any competitive team sport requires travel, interaction with the public, and of course physical contact. If the NHL continued to play, players would start to develop symptoms, and entire teams would be quarantined. Most importantly, it was never the NHL or NHLPA call to make. Public health officials were going to pull the plug by the weekend on all public gatherings over 1,000 people throughout North America. The NHL had two choices: 1. Play until Saturday, and have their fate decided by Government health officials 2. Safe face, and suspend the season. They made the right choice.
