Baseball just announced spring training is being postponed as well I'm watching the Bluejays playing right now. So it's not postponed. They weren’t going to postponed it in the middle of the 4th inning lol

Cart in front of horse? Thinking there is a better chance of the NHL playing the games with no fans in the seats as the next step, they need to talk to the players and the players association first. That was never going to happen. Hockey or any competitive team sport requires travel, interaction with the public, and of course physical contact. If the NHL continued to play, players would start to develop symptoms, and entire teams would be quarantined. Most importantly, it was never the NHL or NHLPA call to make. Public health officials were going to pull the plug by the weekend on all public gatherings over 1,000 people throughout North America. The NHL had two choices: 1. Play until Saturday, and have their fate decided by Government health officials 2. Safe face, and suspend the season. They made the right choice. If the NBA didn't pull the plug we would still be playing, so much panic for nothing.

Every major sports league in the world has suspended play including the Premier league. Do you really think they would cancel and lose millions and millions over nothing ? I choose science over what I want or my own feelings. Large gatherings are a great way to spread it. It's just a fact and an intelligent decision to suspend things.

Games have been canceled many times before during play. This was pre-season games that meant nothing and could lead to injuries. They are canceling games for public safety so why continue playing a meaningless game if this really supposed to be about public safety.

Why can’t we just go out and live our lives? F’ing useless elite bastards Because large groups spread the virus. Then you spread the virus. Regular influenza kills at about .1 % Covid 19 kills at about 3% as near as they can figure. If you are over 60 or have a compromised heart or lungs it's about 6%.. It's an attempt to slow the spread. That Tommy is why you can't go out and live your life in a large group

As a male over 60 with a heart condition I appreciate the efforts to limit the spread and flatten the curve. It means less chance of me getting. As Tim said F**k coronavirus. It is not elite bastards doing this to the downtrodden proletariat (as the opposite of the elites). Its medical scientists and public health advocates seeing what happened in China, South Korea and now Italy. Hardly elites.

Actually should of locked the doors and made everyone stay there for 2 weeks. How dare they let those people that could be infected back into the public. What were they thinking!

Definitely made the right choice as it's best to nip this thing in the bud although the flu kills hundreds of thousands worldwide yearly and no one bats an eye. This seems to spread more quickly but who really knows as the numbers aren't accurate. Either way hopefully we see the numbers drop and if anything they can have a round of mini playoffs with the teams in the wildcard race and have a full playoff after. This would at least give teams like the Jets a shot...would be fair.

The elites I was referring to are the globalists who want the countryf fundamentally changed. They are everywhere and, I think, in control of NHL now. The agenda is all that matters. Regardless of your opinion of Don Cherry, the way he was dumped was a disgrace (Bobby Oar). He didn’t fit the new order. McLean then came in and threw Don under the bus (sell out) in order to keep his job. So these people can’t wait to pile on when they have this chance to be in the spot light. Not saying it wasn’t the right thing to do but I’ve become very sceptical of this crowd under the guise of political correctness.

Can't stand listening to him now.

This is a virus it doesn't give a rats ass about politics, political correctness, elites, or Don Cherry. Left or right should have nothing to do with the conversation. That type of thought process got the US into a situation of having not remotely enough test kits. They teeter on the edge right now.Once you are behind the 8 ball with this you end up with situations like Italy or Spain. Meanwhile we have to learn from their mistakes and use what has worked in other countries that have kept a modicum of control. I have an abject dislike of our current federal government and our PM in particular but I will give them credit on this one they are doing alright so far.
