November 18, 2023: SATURDAY MORNING LINKS Links: ➤ Summaries: CW Presto ➤ UofC: Dinos solve Bisons goaltender in 2-1 win (with boxscore and video) Nobody in the CW posted a game story before I posted last night. The Bisons have still not posted one, but Calgary did, and it includes a video link. Links: ➤ Summaries: CW Presto ➤ MacU: Scott scores twice to pace Griffins to 3-2 win over nationally-ranked Cougars (with boxscore and video) The Bluegars have not posted a game story, but the Family Guys have. They only have the one goal and an interview on video, though. Links: ➤ Summaries: CW Presto ➤ UofA: Florchuk, Berlin lead Bears to convincing win over Regina The Evil Monkeys posted a story, the Banjo-Cats have not. Links: ➤ Summaries: CW Presto ➤ Huskie Fan: Balanced attack leads Huskies to victory in Vancouver ➤ UBC: Huskies end T-Birds’ home ice win streak (with boxscore) No story at the U of S, but Huskie Fan has come through win a story. November 18, 2023: BISONS CRUSHED IN BEDROCK MANITOBA BISONS 1 CALGARY DINOSAURS 9 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ Game reports: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofM: Team Website ➤ UofC: No. 4 Dinos cruise to 9-1 win over Bisons Quick SummaryMan: J. Paulhus (08:22 3rd) Calg: C. Gengenbach (01:17 1st), A. Atwal (05:20 1st), A. Kydd (08:25 1st), M. Stewart (05:42 2nd), M. Stewart (06:04 2nd), J. Gricius (06:40 2nd), J. Poole (01:21 3rd), R. Stotts (09:46 3rd), C. Horning (13:58 3rd) Goal: Man: Thornton L (22 shots, 17 saves), Hawryluk (30 shots, 26 saves); Calg: Tetachuk (21 shots, 20 saves) This was grim from the outset. Kolby Thornton was back as the starter in goal, but maybe his confidence is not where it once was. I got in right at 4:00 when it started, but by the time I got the stream going it was already 2-0. The 1st period was reasonable (shots 15-11 for the Dinos), but in the 2nd the shots were 18-1 for the Dinos and it looked like it. The weekend results vault the Dinos back into 1st place. OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD MACEWAN GRIFFINS 1 MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 5 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ MacU: Griffins run out of gas in rematch, settle for weekend split with Cougars after 5-1 loss (with boxscore) ➤ MRU: MHKY: Cougars find victory at home against Griffins (with boxscore) Quick SummaryMacU: J. Holmes (17:40 3rd) Goal: MacU: Davis (39 shots, 34 saves); MRU: Sims (14 shots, 13 saves) The Bluegars bounced back from Friday’s upset with a convincing and dominating victory on home ice. Though scoreless after the 1st, it always seemed inevitable that the floodgates would open. REGINA COUGARS 2 ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS 4 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofR (Friday late): Alberta takes 7-2 Friday win over Cougars (with boxscore) ➤ UofA: Hall pots two to lead Alberta to 4-2 victory over Regina (with boxscore) Quick SummaryReg: C. Hall (08:02 3rd) Goal: Reg: Evanoff (26 shots, 22 saves); Alta: Berlin (35 shots, 32 saves) After being whipped on Friday night, the Banjo-Cats deserved a better fate in this rematch. IMO they outplayed the Evil Monkeys. They went 0-for-6 on the PP, which made the difference. Remember when the Monkeys were NEVER outshot in their games? SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES 4 U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS 3 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofS: MHKY: Weekend Sweep of Top Ranked UBC Thunderbirds (with boxscore) ➤ Huskie Fan: Resilient Huskies win second straight over Tbirds ➤ UBC: T-Birds suffer rare weekend sweep, dropping second straight to Huskies (with boxscore) Quick SummarySask: C. Stebbings (11:18 1st), V. Loschiavo (06:41 2nd), J. Ball (04:39 3rd), R. Pelletier (15:44 3rd) UBC: C. Douglas (02:42 1st), J. Kryski (02:59 1st), J. Wismer (11:09 2nd) Goal: Sask: Kooy (24 shots, 21 saves); UBC: Lane (37 shots, 33 saves) If anything, the Banjo-Mutts dominated this game more than Friday’s. Holding a 3-2 lead entering the 3rd, the T-irds were outshot 11-3 in that 3rd period alone. Those five Tier 1 teams never seem to put any distance between themselves and the rest of the pack. The sweep means that these two teams are now tied for 2nd, with dead even strength-of-schedule thus far. STANDINGSNote: All 5 Tier 1 teams are .500 against one another, but for the two OTLs. Other Links: ➤ USports: Schedule/Links ∞ Standings ➤ CW: Home Page ∞ Season Schedule ➤ CW Hockey Tech: Daily Schedule ➤ CW LeagueStat: Media Stats ∞ Daily Schedule The Bisons bring their first semester to a close with a homestand against the Evil Monkeys. Although they sit 4th in the CW, they and Calgary are the only teams in the CW with positive records against their fellow Tier 1 opponents. (Both due to having an OTL.) The difference is that whereas Calgary, Saskatchewan, and UBC are 8-0-0 against Tier 2, the Monkeys are just 4-0-0. They need to sweep the Bisons here, and MacEwan next weekend, to keep pace for the pennant. Oddly enough, the Bisons have above-average goaltending stats. Ross Hawryluk came from the backup role to hold the hot hand in his two starts. His stats line is 1-1-0, .936 S%, 3.12 GAA. Kolby Thornton is 0-10-1, .901 S%, and 3.81 GAA. (The Hockey Tech site has two entries for him, with one indicating he surrender 0 goals on 19 shots in 21 minutes. If those should be added to his stats line, he would have a .905 S%, which would be 4th amongst qualified goaltenders in the CW.) His numbers have declined in the last two weekends. The other positive aspect of the Bison season thus far is the powerplay, sitting at #3 with a 22.6% success rate. The PK is just 78.8%, last in the CW. Overall, they are (barely) on the plus side of the ledger. Jonny Hooker still leads the team with 9-5-14 in 14 GPs. Chase Hartje is one point behind with 2-11-13, and sits 5th amongst defencemen. The Monkeys are still contenders, and could easily finish first, but are not as scary as they once were. They used to dominate the shot clock and the scoring race. This year, they have been outshot several games, and last weekend could well have lost to Regina. Both Ape goaltenders have lesser numbers than the Bison goaltenders. Matt Berlin is 5-0-1, .896 S%, 2.86 GAA and Ethan Kruger is 3-4-0, .869 S%, and 3.31 GAA. They also have just two players at or above a PPG ratio. Eric Florchuk is 6-14-20 and Josh Prokop is 8-8-16. They have outscored their opponents 56-45, whilst the Bisons are down 24-61. The linked story is a sad one about the death of forward Hayden Ostir’s boyhood friend, Declan Erickson, a year ago. Worth a click, I say. The Family Guys are thus far the only Tier 2 team with a win over a Tier 1 team, which gives them a big edge. The Banjo-Cats did well against Alberta last weekend, and could well have matched the Mythical Mutants accomplishment. Holy Trinity is, like the Bisons, in a situation where they need a miracle or two to challenge for a playoff berth. A win over the Bluegars last year cost MRU 2nd place and a first round bye. U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS (11-3-0, 16-3-0, OHT35 #6) CALGARY DINOSAURS (11-2-1, 17-2-1, OHT35 #3) Links: ➤ UBC: Team Website ➤ UofC: Team Website This is the feature series of the weekend in the CW. The T-irds were swept by the Banjo-Mutts on home ice last week, and now enter the Town of Bedrock looking for a bounce-back. Against Tier 1, UBC is 3-3-0, Calgary is 3-2-1. Against Tier 2, both are 8-0-0. UBC leads the CW in goals scored with 70 (Calgary has 62) and Calgary is 2nd in fewest goals allowed with 32 (UBC allowed 39). So UBC is +31, Calgary +30. November 24, 2023: BISONS BEAT THE MONKEYS! ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS 2 MANITOBA BISONS 3 (in overtime) Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ Game reports: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofM: WEEKEND PREVIEW: Basketball, men's hockey return home ➤ UofM: Hooker And Hawryluk Heros As The Manitoba Bisons Stun The Alberta Golden Bears 3-2 At Wayne Fleming Arena (with boxscore) ➤ UofA: Team Website Quick SummaryAlta: A. Hall (08:03 2nd), N. Boyko (17:50 3rd) Man: C. Trimble (06:10 1st), J. Arpin (02:14 3rd), J. Hooker (01:21 1st OT) Goal: Alta: Berlin (29 shots, 26 saves); Man: Hawryluk (36 shots, 34 saves) The Bisons needed some points against Tier 1 opposition, and really earned it against the Evil Monkeys. This was by the best game of the season for the Herd. Here’s how they lined up: MANITOBA Goal: 34 Hawryluk (30 Thornton) Defence: 8 Toth - 4 Malchuk 16 Hartje - 27 Gottfried 25 Calder - 24 Wareham Forwards: 21 Basarab - 9 Thiessen - 11 Ostir 20 Apetagon - 18 Hooker - 17 Veloso 28 Behun - 19 Arpin - 29 King 23 Fawkes - 12 Trimble - 26 Boucher Scratches: G: 1 Harkness D: 5 Casey - 6 Fry F: 10 Paulhus - 13 Sutter - 14 Zimmerman ALBERTA Goal: 35 Berlin (30 Kruger) Defence: 4 Gustafson - 52 Belcourt 7 Plouffe - 40 Platz 37 Trolley - 24 Ward Forwards: 12 Hall - 14 Florchuk - 10 Prokop 26 Kendall - 9 Hall - 23 Smallwood 17 Thacker - 21 Boyko - 15 Lategan 16 Wiebe - 19 McGregor - 11 Preziuso Scratches: G: Bennett D: 3 Sexsmith - 8 McLeod - 25 Herhouf - 22 Sakowich F: 5 Tapia - 13 Fincaryk - 29 Paterson The Monkeys wore their white jerseys with the Evil Monkey logo, and the Bisons wore their dark brown. This is the best visual combo these teams can offer. The opening Bison goal was a goal-mouth scramble, initially awarded to Eric Fawkes, later changed to Cameron Trimble, making it 1-0 after one. The Evil Monkeys levelled the score in a 2nd period they dominated (15-8 on the shot clock). Adam Hall converted a wonderful passing play. Jackson Arpin restored the Bison lead just about two minutes into the 3rd period. The Bisons then clamped down and appeared to have it under control. But with just over two minutes left, Ross Hawryluk (who had an outstanding game and is certainly on a roll) whiffed on an unobstructed point shot from Noah Boyko. Ugh. Was this to be another disappointment in a season that’s not working? Nope! Captain Hooker ripped a one-timer in 3-on-3 overtime to salt it away, and the Bisons got two needed points. One word about the lines. Colton Veloso was injured so all the lines were shuffled about for the ending of the game. The rematch goes Saturday at 2:00 p.m., not the 3:00 p.m. start previously advertised. Captain Hooker scores! And it’s celly time! OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD MACEWAN GRIFFINS 2 REGINA COUGARS 0 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ MacU: Abel records 32-save shutout as Griffins gain ground in playoff race with 2-0 win over Cougars (with boxscore and video) ➤ UofR: MacEwan takes 2-0 win over Cougars in weekend opener (with boxscore) Quick SummaryMacU: C. Chorney (00:11 3rd), S. Simard (19:58 3rd) Reg: none Goal: MacU: Abel (32 shots, 32 saves); Reg: Evanpoff (24 shots, 23 saves) This was the key matchup of the weekend when it comes to playoff berths. I was unable to see any of the out-of-town games due to my live attendance at the U of M. The goaltenders were sharp here. The last goal was an empty-netter. TRINITY WESTERN SPARTANS 0 MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 4 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ TWU: Third Period Puts Cougars past Spartans (with boxscore) ➤ MRU: MHKY: Cougars defend home ice in victory over Spartans (with boxscore) Quick SummaryTWU: none MRU: C. Stevenson (19:12 3rd) Goal: TWU: Audet (34 shots, 31 saves); MRU: Farkas (20 shots, 20 saves) This game was tighter than the score would indicate. Until the Bluegars scored on the PP 13 minutes into the 3rd period, it was just a 1-0 game. The shots in the 3rd period were 15-4 in favour of the Bluegars, so Holy Trinity might not be in great shape for the rematch. U.B.C. November 25, 2023: MONKEYS SALVAGE A SPLIT ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS 6 MANITOBA BISONS 1 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ Game reports: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofM: Alberta Golden Bears Overpower Manitoba Bisons En Route To 6-1 Win In Men’s Hockey (with boxscore) ➤ UofA (Friday late): Bears fall to Bisons in OT (with boxscore) Quick SummaryAlta: J. Hall (14:30 1st), A. Thacker (06:17 2nd), J. Smallwood (15:37 2nd), J. Smallwood (00:54 3rd), T. Preziuso (15:53 3rd), K. Belcourt (19:54 3rd) Man: A. Sutter (10:59 3rd) Goal: Alta: Kruger (32 shots, 31 saves); Man: Hawryluk (34 shots, 28 saves) First, do not over-react to the final score. Well into the 2nd period, I thought this had a good chance to be a Bison sweep. The lineup had three changes. On defence, Brandon Casey was in for Owen Wareham. Up front, Andre Sutter and Riley Zimmerman were in for Colton Veloso and Eric Fawkes. Codey Behun left the game with an injury when Cam Wiebe of the Monkeys kneed him, getting a 5-minute major and a game misconduct. The Monkeys switched goaltenders, as usual, but were otherwise unchanged. Their line-up was altered when forward Jacob Kendall was hurt and, of course, when Wiebe was tossed. The difference in this game was the powerplay. The Monkeys went 2-for-3, the Bisons were 0-for-4 and gave up a shorthanded goal. The 2nd period was what turned the game around. The Bisons trailed 1-0 after one, in an evenly played period. They took control in 2nd, outshooting the Monkeys 13-7. However, the Monkeys got the only two goals, which were similar. The Bisons would get the Monkeys running around in circles for a prolonged period, eventually lose the puck, and rather than switch to defence make a vain attempt to keep up the offence and, instead, surrender a quick break-out with nobody back for rebound control. The 2nd Monkey goal came after Riley Zimmerman missed two close calls in a net-front scramble. The 3rd Monkey goal was shorthanded and was particularly galling, as it made the game 3-0 heading into a 3rd period where the Bisons deserved, at worst, to be tied. The Monkeys scored in the first minute of the 3rd period, and the Bisons had no bounce-back from that point onward. Andre Sutter (usually a healthy scratch) had his 1st goal for the Bisons, and two late Monkey goals padded their stats and scoreline. The Bisons end the first semester with a bye next weekend. Then it’s off to Thunder Bay for some non-conference action on December 29th and 30th. The next home series is against UBC on January 5th and 6th. OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD MACEWAN GRIFFINS 2 REGINA COUGARS 4 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ MacU: Griffins run into hungry Cougars, settle for weekend split after 4-2 Saturday loss (with boxscore and video) ➤ UofR: Pearce scores twice as Cougars earn weekend split with win over MacEwan (with boxscore) Quick SummaryMacU: K. Culling (15:17 2nd) Goal: MacU: Abel (25 shots, 21 saves); Reg: Evanoff (29 shots, 27 saves) Yet another split occurred in this battle for 6th place. The Family Guys could have really put a stranglehold on this race, but I reckon this race will last all year. TRINITY WESTERN SPARTANS 3 MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 4 (in a shootout) Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ TWU: Spartans Earn Road Point (with boxscore) ➤ MRU: MHKY: Cougars defeat Spartans in shootout during last home game of the year (with boxscore) Quick SummaryTWU: D. Stevenson (18:29 3rd) Goal: TWU: Sommer (44 shots, 41 saves); MRU: Farkas (30 shots, 27 saves) Holy Trinity played quite well in this one. Trailing 2-1 entering the 3rd, they took a 3-2 lead. The Bluegars scored with 90 seconds left to force OT, and ultimately took it on a shootout. Had Holy Trinity won that shootout, every series this weekend would have been split. U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS 4 CALGARY DINOSAURS 1 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UBC: Birds bounce back with win over first place Dinos (with boxscore) ➤ UofC: Third period sinks banged-up Dinos (with boxscore and video) Quick SummaryUBC: C. White (01:09 2nd) Goal: UBC: Schwebius (25 shots, 24 saves); Calg: Tetachuk (33 shots, 29 saves) The T-irds must have been feeling some pressure heading into this one. A loss here in the Town of Bedrock and their hopes of a 1st place finish would have taken a serious pounding. The Dinos played down a man, due to that dreaded injury bug. It seems to get to everybody sooner or later. The T-irds were on a mini-slump, which they ended in game two last weekend. They are 8-0-0 against the Tier 2 teams, including an earlier sweep of their series in Regina. December 1, 2023: BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DURING A BYE WEEK I had other commitments which kept me away from the laptop Friday night, so this is a brief synopsis of the evening’s events. December 2, 2023: WEEKEND OF SWEEPS AS THE 1ST SEMESTER WRAPS UP The good news for the Bisons is that they lost no ground while not even playing. There were lots of goals this Saturday night. Just read down. OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD CALGARY DINOSAURS 5 TRINITY WESTERN SPARTANS 2 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofC: Dinos come back strong to top Spartans (with boxscore) ➤ TWU: Dinos Come Back Strong to Top Spartans (with boxscore) Quick SummaryCalg: J. Gricius (15:31 1st), J. Poole (17:51 1st), J. White (07:03 2nd), J. White (14:46 3rd), J. Gricius (18:48 3rd) TWU: A. Oates (01:02 1st), T. Hopps (03:38 1st) Goal: Calg: Tetachuk (22 shots, 20 saves); TWU: Sommer (45 shots, 41 saves) Odd 1st period. Holy Trinity built a 2-0 lead, but Bedrock U came back to tie it up by intermission. The shots were 26-4 in favour of the Dinos. The rest of the claim was closer (shots 20-18 in favour of the Dinos) but they gradually cemented a lead. Of note, the Dinos played two men short. MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 7 SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES 4 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ MRU: Team Website ➤ UofS: Team Website Quick SummaryMRU: C. Bouchard (05:01 2nd), T. Zandee (05:53 2nd), B. Stevenson (08:40 2nd), D. Kernaghan (15:10 2nd), C. Bouchard (15:53 2nd), C. Bouchard (18:52 3rd), C. Bouchard (19:43 3rd) Sask: C. Petruic (17:20 1st), B. Tkachuk (07:15 3rd), C. Stebbings (10:00 3rd), V. Loschiavo (19:22 3rd) Goal: MRU: Farkas (23 shots, 19 saves); Sask: Kooy (29 shots, 24 saves) This was a key sweep for the Bluegars, actually giving them the best head-to-head record amongst the Tier 1 teams. The 2nd period was wild. Sask entered the period with a 1-0 lead, and left trailing 5-1. MRU went 3-for-3 on the PP. After that wild 2nd period, I switched my focus elsewhere. The stats would imply weak goaltending with a combined 5 goals on 17 shots. REGINA COUGARS 1 U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS 7 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofR: UBC completes weekend sweep with Saturday win over Cougars (with boxscore) ➤ UBC: Birds close out 2023 with weekend sweep of Regina (with boxscore) Quick SummaryReg: J. Brook (13:43 1st) UBC: J. Wismer (05:16 1st), S. Huo (08:01 1st), S. Mutala (11:04 1st), S. Atkinson (01:29 2nd), C. McNabb (08:31 2nd), C. Douglas (09:02 2nd), S. Atkinson (17:27 2nd) Goal: Reg: Evanoff (45 shots, 38 saves); UBC: Schwebius (23 shots, 22 saves) The Banjo-Cats look like the weakest team in the CW now. There were only two PPs each, so it was just Cats chasing around fruitlessly after Birds. Reminiscent of Sylvestre, Tweety Bird, and an old lady armed with an umbrella. ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS 8 MACEWAN GRIFFINS 5 Links: ➤ Summaries: LeagueStat : CW ➤ UofA: Team Website ➤ MacU: Team Website Quick SummaryAlta: A. Thacker (01:07 1st), T. Preziuso (03:45 1st), J. Strang (11:45 2nd), R. Appelt (12:57 2nd), J. Taupert (18:45 3rd) Goal: Alta: Berlin (30 shots, 25 saves); MacU: Davis (41 shots, 34 saves) This was the evening’s nightcap, so I saw a lot if it. Both sides looked sloppy. The Evil Monkeys always looked like they were about to burst out and bury the Family Guys, but never really did. So some USports teams are kicking off the rust with some weekend action. There are also free streams of this series on OUA TV, for those not seeing enough hockey from the World Juniors, Spengler Cup, and the NHL. So put away the turkey, order some pizza, curry, or cheeseburgers, and get back into the groove. There used to be 4-team tournament every holiday season in T-Bay, in which the Bisons participated on several occasions. It then became a double-header between Lakehead and an invited guest. This year it is the Bisons’ turn. The Bisons will be anxious to say farewell to 2023. Last year they went a not-so-bad 7-9-0 in the 2022 1st semester but then fell to 1-10-1 in the 2023 2nd semester. So a reversal would be the goal this season. The Thundermutts have been wobbly thus far. They looked like a team with a good shot at a U-Cup berth last season, but have fallen back to mid-table team this time. I admit that I root for them when they compete in the OUA, being a former GPAC team and all. ELSEWHERE IN THE CW MACEWAN GRIFFINS (6-11-1, 8-14-1, OHT35 #22) ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS (12-4-2, 16-8-2, OHT35 #5) Links: ➤ MacU: Team Website ➤ UofA: Team Website ➤ Live stats: LeagueStat This Friday night game was a late addition to the non-conference schedule. It makes sense that these two teams from Edmontown would play a game like this. However, it would be better to see them choose opponents from another conference. NAIT from the ACAC used to be a part of this process. The BCIHL has all games on YouTube. This is the Harlem Globetrotters version of the Red Leafs. They have one squad in the BCIHL, and that squad is 4-3-1 and sits in 4th. The travelling team seldom plays in British California. After this game, they have only five games left on their schedule (all in the Excited States) and three of those are on one weekend. Holy Trinity beat SFU 3-2 on September 9th. In 2022-23, Holy Trinity won two out of their three games (SFU won 6-3, TWU won 5-0 and 5-2). FWIW, thus far the Globetrotters are 0-2-0 against the CW, 2-0-0 against the ACAC, 0-5-0 against NCAA D1, 0-2-0 against NCAA D3, and 1-0-0 against the ACHA. However, it is on a Tuesday night before conference play resumes. These teams did not meet in the pre-season, as they usually do. Instead, Manitoba and Minot State visited Banjoland and took turns playing these two teams over the same weekend. The Clippers are not the ACAC doormats they once were. They were 13-9-2 last season, good for 4th place, and have taken a further step this year. Links: ➤ MRU: Bouchard named WHL Grad of the Month for November/December There are no seasons greetings games for the Bluegars (nor for Sask, Calgary, and UBC) but there is at least news from MRU. Conor Bouchard was named WHL Grad-of-the-Month for November/December. He had 35 points in 25 games last year, and has 16 goals and 20 assists through 16 games this year. The bad news: The spinning circle was there the majority of the time and the audio sounded like Stan Mikita Doughnuts’ drive through on Wayne’s World. The Bisons decided to give 3rd string goaltender Simon Harkness a start. He didn’t do too bad in pre-season but got just one poor start in the regular season. His record is 0-1-0, 9.23 GAA, and .786 S%. Ross Hawryluk played the 3rd period. I suspect that they’ll use Hawryluk and Kolby Thornton on Saturday so that each goaltender gets two period of play. Scratches for the Bisons included Thornton in goal, Malchuk and Calder on defence, and Ostir, Basarab, and Behun up front. It was hard to make notes on line match-ups due to the inconsistent audio and video.
