13000 tonight. Pathetic. I don’t give this loser franchise long. Hey ovi, yeah that's a disappointing number for a season opener; not good.
I notice they're taking quite a few steps this year, for the first time ever really, to be more community focused and it feels like trying more to have players say positive things in their interviews, etc. Even Scheif being on camera with a Jets logo on his hat almost as big as the Nike one on his shirt.
Need to take a few more pages out of the Wade Miller playbook. It's going to take a while to get fans to turn the negative momentum into positive momentum. I'm thinking like you, it may never get back to the consistent levels they had all the way up to around 2019...basically around the time Buff left. They lost a lot of fans and should never have let it get to the point it did where former season ticket holders say "never again!". The old saying about how much easier it is to retain a customer than to get a new one or win one back.
Myself, watching the game on the tube yesterday, it was the first time in a couple of years that I was saying, I kind of wish I was there in person. They have a group now that I like, at least for now, mainly because I think they actually like and are excited about being Winnipeg Jets. I was kind of iffy on Lowry as Captain to be honest but yesterday's piece on him during the telecast and seeing his pride and excitement, that won me over.
Hopefully Chipman can get more buy in from his Corporate buddies, if he has any. By the sounds of it, the average fan is stepping up on par with any team in Canada, if not better than most. It's the business community support where we're falling way short of the next lowest level of support. I'm not sure I heard the numbers right because it seems so disproportionate but I remember hearing Jets sell 15% of their season tix to Corporate and next closest team was something around 40%.

Positives: Ehlers and Kupari both pick up their game. Lowry showed what his captaincy is all about. Kept Tkachuk in line and that assist was something else. Scheif showing some leadership but should maybe be a little more picky about who he fights. The 4th line are going to drive the opposition nuts. Great to watch their forecheck.
Things that still need work: Perfetti played better, nice pass to Demelo, but he tends to stay clear of contact. He'll have to develop a bit more of a "Brad Marchand" attitude. Jets are still one tough guy short. Samberg has shown signs but it needs to be there all the time. If Stanley was mean he would likely have a better chance at playing.
Overall much better hockey than last year. The Dubois trade brought some very good contributors and have changed the team for the better. In my opinion they're still not a cup contender but are moving in that direction.
Side note: Take a pass on Garland. Not enough of a return on a $4+ million salary. Try prying Pinto out of Ottawa. Or work on getting Toews if he gets healthy.

Just two games, folks and little can be absolutely determined so far. Lets resume this discussion at the end of November.

Just two games, folks and little can be absolutely determined so far. Lets resume this discussion at the end of November. Absolutely. Look at last year's collapse after that excellent point total in December. But it felt like smoke and mirrors were used. A couple of players were there someday and disappeared on others. This feels different in a good way. So far.

You are correct on the 15%, Chipman states that they are working very hard on getting Corporate season tickets to 40%. Chipman admitted that when they got the Jets back, they only focused on 13000 season tickets based on what the NHL wanted, he admitted that they went predominantly after the regular Joe/Mary/residents, they didn’t go as hard on going after Corporations, he/Chipman now admits that was a mistake, they the Jets should have gone after Corporations as hard as they did regular residents according to Chipman. According to Chipman/now, he is going after Corporations to get season Corporate tickets to 40%. Hopefully everything that I have stated here makes sense👍 BTW, Chipman will have no problem getting Corporate season tickets to 40%, don’t forget that David Thompson will also be working on this with Chipman, Thompson has so much pull all over Canada/U.S./World, Thompson is one of the richest men in Canada including the World, even if Chip/Thompson and company only get to 30%, it’s a Huge, Huge win. Cheers, 2b9😃👍 P.S. Hopefully I spelled David T’s last name correctly, if not, sorry! Bottom line according to Chipman and David T, the Jets are here in Winnipeg, Manitoba forever no matter what, that is according to both. Don’t forget that David T is the majority owner of the Jets, he is a huge fan of Winnipeg and Manitoba, he also stated way back in the past that the Jets should have never ever have left, that’s why he got involved with Chipman, David T is a huge supporter/proponent of anything Canadian including big time Winnipeg and Manitoba. David T is one of the richest men on this world, he is Canadian, he loves Winnipeg, he loves Manitoba, he loves Canada. And, BTW, I work for large medium sized large Corporation here in Winnipeg/Manitoba, we have Corporate season tickets to the Jets, I have connections to the Jets through the Corp that I work for through my boss whom has connections to the Jets, so, I have connections, I know what is going on with the Jets. Jets are going nowhere, they are here forever in my lifetime including everyone else’s, just so everyone knows, nothing to worry about, Jets are not going anywhere, they are here forever in my lifetime and everyone else’s.

On the issue of attendance it is quite apparent that the Jets organization post Western final let rot enter the dressing room. The covid "inspired" year beating the Oilers was brought to a abrupt end with the Montreal series and the rot continued. The status quo, I believe, had a huge impact on the enthusiasm in this market.
Now one might argue there was a combination of the locker room rot, performance and the economic pressures caused by the lock down nonsense and the resultant inflationary effect on everyone which ultimately has effected the attendance. That could be a valid argument as well.
Suffice it to say we now see the effect. The economic recovery, a locker room purged of the poison and leadership by a newly signed, especially to him - Scheifele - can help bring the enthusiasm back.

It's going to take some consistent, entertaining hockey to re-energize the market. I found it really surprising that the new faces and the big signings didn't sell out the home opener. That speaks volumes. The covid bubble got people used to sitting in their living room with the big screen, cheap beer and skip the dishes. You better give them a good reason to get off the couch and dig into the wallet.

I looked at the Moose attendances for their opening weekend and they seemed a bit lower than typical, but not hugely so. Economy probably playing a factor, but with the Jets drama of the last two seasons is a bigger issue.
