NHL said it was reckless but not deliberate. If you are reckless, are you not being deliberately so?

So Detroit's Larkin was cross checked twice in the same sequence by Ottawa players knocked out lay motionless on the ice. At the same time Detroit's David Perron, one of Wpgs favorite villains, crossed checked an Ottawa player on the ice allegedly for retaliation. Guess who gets gets a DoPS call up. You guessed right if you said Perron. All the others were not worthy of a call even though they rendered Larkin unconscious. On video it looks like Morrissey's check to Stahl in the playoffs for which he got a playoff game suspension. Player safety my baby's bottom. www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/recapping-a-violent-weekend-in-the-nhl-i-just-dont-like-the-consistency/Neither do we Elliote, neither do we!

The other very objectionable non-call was the boarding that happened to Perfetti. Change Parros for someone that isn't a former goon and an advocate of player safety. What they really should do is assign this job to an outside agency that has a Grade A knowledge of hockey. And has the authority to protect players through education, fines and meaningful suspensions. In another sport but related to this...Rodney Harrison, known tough safety who played on the edge, said he never listened to the NFL player safety guys when fined, but only when suspended from games. That was big money for him and reputation wise with his peers. I would imagine every GM privately rails against the inconsistency of the DoPS but no one seems to be listening. In fact it looks to be getting worse.

And lastly this Crap of non-inforcement results in more of the same as now the next game out someone has to man up against Strome. And in all the other examples above. DoPS causes more violence that it pretends to reduce or stop.

This is and always was a cause celebre for me. I stopped watching the game in the 90s as the violence grew worse in many ways than the 70s. At least in 70s, think Flyers, there really was no prevention or concern and was accepted. Even celebrated. But in the 90s ,even the effort was rudimentary, neither players or the NHL paid heed to the increase cost of the violence. Early in the new century we know about the CTE, PTSD, Suicide and chronic pain. Yet in this physical and emotional game the rationalization is that boys will be boys, and the resulting wonton violence is ignored and in doing so promotes it! OK I am off my high horse and will zipper the mouth.

Their decisions are so random. It's pretty simple. Strome went for Connor but by the time he was there KC was making a cut. So rather than miss him he kept his leg out there. Bingo, nails him in the knee. Intent to injure ? Probably not. Intentional ? Probably yes. Reckless ? Definitely yes ! Worthy of a suspension ? Of course. How F-ing hard is that. The league just lost one of its most entertaining players. Do something about it!

It is as much the fault of the NHLPA as it is the league itself. They refuse to make serious changes and it hurts the growth of the game but they are too dim to see it.
The NFL has become a financial beast and a lot of it due to protecting the star offensive players. Old school folks pine for the old days but the game is growing fast and all the players make more money.
I would love to talk to a player about this, it is insane to me.

The Wpgjets in my opinion on many nhl games verses a leaque favorite team are disciplined by Bias Referee call time and time again? Sooo soooo obvious? The reason this continues is because Jets Management are a soft bunch of industry ignorants that don't wanna rock the boat on the gambling betting houses making there bets on this online b.s getting kinda like AWA Wrestling goons making money on the paying public? Personaly I"m getting tired of watching two periods of hockey with a boring as heck 1-0 score? As clutch and grab and shut down as hockey has beacome the obstacle of Ref Bias surely has to be Questioned by the General manager of the Wpg Jets? WE"Ve become Pushovers being taken advantage off? Dam True? Oh yeah maybe lets Make the ice even Smaller so we can even more knee on knee incidents The NHL ice size gotta get bigger?

OK I am off my high horse and will zipper the mouth. There were 4 incidents within 48 hrs along the lines of what happened to KC. Probably the worst one being Detroit / Ottawa with Dylan Larkin laying unconscious on the ice after being crosschecked in the head. The league, NHL PA and the owners need to get a handle on this.
