If you are interested in the advanced stats/shot charts from last night's game, check out my game recap via the link below: www.arcticicehockey.com/recap-los-angeles-kings-winnipeg-jets-2/In typical Winnipeg fashion, the players that had the best scoring chances couldn't convert, with the leading four players (Appleton - 0.67 xG, Vilardi - 0.49 xG, Niederreiter - 0.41 xG, & Lowry - 0.38 xG) failing to score one. If you're interested, the three goal scorers had the following xG's: Monahan (0.28), Perfetti (0.22), and Morrissey (0.15). Here are some of my other observations from the article: Cole Perfetti wasnโt even expected to play, but he certainly had a impactful game versus Los Angeles. At least one mistake helped the Kings score a goal, but with 2 red lights of his own and a primary assist the youngster was a key player for Winnipeg in his return to the top 6. Kyle Connor was very good last night, picking up 3 assists as he used his speed effectively on the forecheck, on the attack, and while protecting the neutral and defensive ends. Other worthwhile performances included Brenden Dillon (9 hits to lead team), Gabriel Vilardi (team-high 4 shots and dangerous on the one PP opportunity), and the overall team defense (holding the Kings to just 1.85 expected goals despite some defensive miscues).

If Bones even thinks of placing Cole down the Lineup he is foolish? Is that how you reward a kid who won the game for us? Small eyes to the back of the bus till proven otherwise? One good game does not erase all the mistakes and half-hearted efforts of the season, andย that applies to both Perfetti or the team in general. The Jets won the game-good for them and the fans, but the Jets' efforts through the game were inconsistent as heck and overall not close to good enough to take then deep into the playoffs. I don't think anyone is getting too excited about this victory. We didn't see the kind of intensity from LA that other opponents have brought lately. I see them as similar to the Jets, as far as playoff aspirations. In the sense that they'll likely get in, but bow out early. I see it as a battle between a couple of 1st round fodder teams that could have gone either way. As far as Perfetti, tough call. Do you sit him again after one of his best games of the season? That kind of game can turn things around for a talented kid who's hit the 2nd year struggles. The best takeaway from this game is that Dubois is a joke. And LA fans aren't laughing. As I said, he's not good enough to for booing energy to be wasted on. Just an absolute overpaid float job. He may have singlehandedly ruined the LA Kings.

DuBois may have cost Rob Blake his job as well. One thing is certain- after DuBois' bloated contract is over, no sane NHL team will touch him, although by then, he ought to have enough money in the bank that he will not be applying for welfare any time soon. The forecast for Jet playoff hopes does remain gloomy.

Put Perfetti with 55 & 27, that will replace 81's goals and he can't be any worse defensively. Also, sit Pionk and play Miller. This maybe rhetorical, but how much of the decision to play someone is merit vs salary?

Dubois doesn't deserve the respect of booing. Like we're mad at him for leaving? Just ignore him. Best thing that happened to the Jets in the last 10 years! I'd lead a cheer while waving bye-bye. That would bother him more!๐๐๐

I agree with your eye test and it is also my assessment, but it seems like team management sits the lower paid and admittedly junior players in deference to the higher paid players. In the case of Samberg, he should never be watching a game. Numbers 2,4,88 should be sat before him.

Particularly if you're seeking to trade the person you don't want to shove him at the bottom of the pairings list and sit him repeatedly because his big juicy salary scares the target teams away with diminished value. I think we're already at that point with Schmidt and even eating the max the team can eat on the salary is probably not enough to make a trade. Then buyout may be the only option.

Barron is a good soldier, but lacks a lot in finish. Nammy and Iafallo are pretty good defensively. Lowry's line has not been scoring, but they do eat up minutes. Another potential scoring line might work.
