Scheifele coughed it up, 2 on 1. Dagger. Can't hang that one on the refs.
And just as the Jets caved in and died, the site went down. Excellent timing. Fade to black.
On a positive note, Jet fans will get an elimination game at home this year to salute their players farewell,as they head off for a nice long summer vacation.

Nothing against the avs they've played well and fast but the refs sure aren't keeping it fair. Some of the non calls were ridiculous.

Nothing against the avs they've played well and fast but the refs sure aren't keeping it fair. Some of the non calls were ridiculous. I was ok with the non-calls as long as it went both ways and Jets were doing fine on the scoreboard as long as that was happening. That is to say the call on Appleton, as oafish that play looked, I think should not have been called based on what they were letting go, including the trip on Connor. No choice for the refs on the Vilardi call, no choice for the refs on the Pionk call...accidental plays but those basically gave no possibility of penalties ever evening out. Compound that with the Jets PK that makes the Avs PP look even more deadly than it is...of course none of us were surprised at what happened.
Special teams, especially the PK has been so bad all year. I really don't think Jets have had a very good PK since Tanev left us. It's been talked about so often but it really didn't seem that they took any significant steps to fix it.
And taking Stanley out didn't seem to make the Jets better. All he really does is throw a few hits they say, but he can't keep up. Well even if he can't keep up, he can at least get in the way and be an obstacle out there, and that massive reach. Aside from Morrissey and maybe Samberg, who on defense was keeping up with the Avs? Certainly not Schmidt, DeMelo or Pionk!
Too little too late but I rather liked the Jets mixing it up at the end of the game, at least showed they cared about what was happening. End result of that though, losing Dillon, I'm thinking that's the second dagger in the Jets...now it's all up to Lowry to provide the courage. I'd like to think Jets will rally around that but there are too many under-performers so far...seems more likely they will wilt out in 5 now.
Down 2-1, it doesn't seem like we have much in the way of muscle in the wings but they can at least insert more speed and aggressiveness into the lineup. AJF for one, he's not going to be a huge difference maker, not going to save the day but if he makes the PK even a little better with his speed, and can add just a smidge of pace in the race for pucks in the Avs zone, he would be an upgrade over what we have on the PK now. I'd swap out Appleton but yeah I know, it would be Gus that would get replaced. Honestly, I'd find a way to get Lambert in there too, even if it meant taking Ehlers out. The way Ehlers is going in all 3 games so far, nothing to lose in that swap.

Yep can't disagree with anything you said. Mony has also been invisible. Ehlers always shrinks in the playoffs. Schmidt shouldn't play I'd rather Heinola in there and Stanley. Apples seems slow and doesn't do much. Either way if the Jets were fast other teams can clutch and grab they get bigger and are too slow. Can't win with the calls either...

Finished the game this morning by watching the 3rd period, and it wasn't close to pleasurable. The AVs looked to be toying with the Jets whose penalty kill took the whole period off. The term "fraud" has been applied to the Jets earlier this year and it sure seems to fit. Pionk and Schmidt have been disasters against the AVs and Stanley has been effective on occasion but just too slow for the NHL- how could the scouting staff not seen this? New coach, new players, same result. Something has to change.

The forum was glitchy for me all last night again.....couldn't get it to load at all. Anyways, if you want to read my recap article or see the advanced stats/shot charts, click the link below: www.arcticicehockey.com/playoff-game-3-recap-jets-avalanche/Here is the Game Observation section: Two pretty good periods went to waste with the awful third period and now the Winnipeg Jets find themselves chasing the series with dwindling confidence. You aren’t going to win many games when you spend almost the entire 3rd period short-handed. On a positive note, the 2nd line of Nikolaj Ehlers, Sean Monahan, & Tyler Toffoli had the bounce back game they needed ( 72% of xG). In fact, the only Winnipeg forward unit that lost the expected goal battle at 5 on 5 was the Adam Lowry, Nino Niederreiter, & Mason Appleton trio and they barely fell short ( 49.4% xG). The Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, & Gabriel Vilardi unit was very good at creating offense ( 62% xG), while the 4th line of Vladislav Namestnikov, David Gustafsson, & Alex Iafallo did their part ( 57.2% xG). It was a better outing for Connor Hellebuyck for most of the game, but the 3rd period explosion ended up killing his stats ( .872%/-1.28 Goals Saved Above Average). Something is wrong with Josh Morrissey as his skating is far from the elite level he is capable of. His lack of foot speed is impacting Winnipeg at both ends of the ice, hindering clean zone exits on Colorado’s dump ins and limiting his ability to get involved offensively without risking getting caught up ice. Statistically, holding the powerful Colorado Avalanche offense to 2.01 expected goals at 5 on 5 was exactly what the Winnipeg Jets needed to have a chance to win. They also fixed the other side of the puck as well by doing well offensively at even strength with 3.16 expected goals. Unfortunately, the poor start to the 3rd period caused the Jets’ fragile psyche to shatter and they reverted to scramble mode after that. I admit I turned off the game before the whole melee at the end of the game, so not sure what that all involved other than the skate cut Brenden Dillon sustained to his hand. Will have to see if that means Logan Stanley or Colin Miller will get into Game 4….or maybe even Ville Heinola?

3 games / 17 goals against, lets say 16 to be fair, HellyBuick was on the bench for the open netter.
Are we done apologizing for him? Yes , no, not sure......
I don't care about his contract, his contract will waltz us right out of the playoffs for the next 8 years if we keep letting it dictate common sense in times like this.
Put Broissoit in already!

I can see the notion 'fraud' being apropos. Once you got by Helle and Brossoit who have been exceptional this year then your dealing with a team depending on discipline and structure but always dependent on the two pillars. We saw when the pillar is shaken then 8 straight loses. Right now Helle can do so much. When he's average the team is vulnerable in many ways. The Jets have guys which can put the puck in the net but having trouble with a weak goaltender.
The PK was in the 20th percentile all season and failed.
The Jets easily took the GK in game one of the Western Final a few years back. Gallant then knew he couldn't run and gun with the Jets. Going forward he used the trap against the Jets and shut them down basically and took the next four.
Jets cant run and gun with the Avs. Dust off the trap and see where it takes us.

As far as the refs yeah that was a trip on Connor as blatant a trip as you're going to see plus magnified as its in their d zone. With the high stick that should have been a two minute PP by Avs. Pionk is what he is Appleton has been getting all the benefit of the doubt on that 3rd line but i think his time is up after this season.
The refs usually stink in opposition ice as they are heavily effected by the fans. Live with it. Come to play or go home and cry.
The best player is Lowry. He's a beast out there. Unfortunately we have no other beasts.

Play 60 full minutes, stay disciplined, stop allowing 40 shots against you.
Tomorrow’s/Sunday afternoon game is a must win.
