The NHL trying to sell the Jets to the desert in 1995. The things they talk about are pretty ironic and some comments make you wonder why they bothered with this at all.

The logical compliment to the video of Jets leaving is this GEM from 2008 where Peter Mansbridge seriously poses questions about a possible return of the NHL to Winnipeg and ends with a pointed question to Mark Chipman, "If they come back would you call them the Jets?"

Looking back the whole thing went pretty much as you would expect it. Phoenix the boom town never cared 2 Crap s about hockey and it never caught on. Next comes economic bust and the city is horrifically in debt. In a case of pure golden karma, Winnipeg prospers and sweeps up a team to phenomenal success. I will tell that to my grandchildren over and over. Ahhhh, it is a bottomless well of replenishment.

^ I think what's really funny about that video is the timeline Mansbridge gave for the team to come back and if the name would be automatic and Chipman says there would have to be a case made for the Jets or whether to start fresh. Case made I guess.

The NHL trying to sell the Jets to the desert in 1995. The things they talk about are pretty ironic and some comments make you wonder why they bothered with this at all. I can't watch that. I still cannot watch that. I tried. I did. And all the nausea, horror, hate, and despair that I thought was washed clean in the last year is still there. 1995-96 is a time I don't want to go back to, not even in memory. Two clicks beyond the quoted Youtube video I found Mark Chipman announcing the team name in June 2011. That, I watched 20-30 times when it was live, abusing the rewind button on my PVR to no end. I enjoyed watching it another 5-6 times tonight. But the crap from 1996? I don't think I'll ever watch a Youtube of that s**t again. Kudos to those who were able to put that all behind them. I thought I was one of you. I was wrong. m.

^ I can't wait to post the video of the NHL announcing the Phoenix Coyotes are no more. I think it should be posted here out of respect of the original Jets.
