Trouba 2 goals (incl. GWG) as Michigan wins Game 1 against #9 Western Michigan 4-3 in a thriller.
Meanwhile, Kasdorf makes 26 saves, but his offense does nothing as Brown beats #16 Renssalaer 3-1 (one empty netter)

UPDATED. Tonight is the Hockey East championship game between UML and BU. Hellebuyck will start again after a 34 save performance last night in a rematch of his epic duel with Flames prospect Jon Gillies and Providence College.
Also tonight: Michigan going at it in the CCHA semifinal against #3 Miami (Ohio, obviously) at the Joe.

Meanwhile, Michigan manhandles the third-ranked Miami RedHawks 6-2, with Trouba and Serville contributing an assist each and will face Notre Dame in tomorrow's CCHA final, the last-ever championship for that conference.

Some nice stats regarding Connor Hellebuyck's MVP performance in the Hockey East Tournament:
-His 0.99 tournament GAA is the third-lowest in conference history. The guys ahead of him? Jimmy Howard (Maine 2004, 0.52) and Cory Schneider (BC 2007, 0.86). The differences? Schneider was a junior and Howard a sophomore on a great Black Bears team. Hellebuyck? A freshman who flat-out stole the starting job.
-His .966 tournament save percentage is fourth-highest in conference history.
-He improves his NCAA win percentage to an astounding .900 (18-2-0).
-His shutout in the final was the fourth in HE tournament history and the first since 2009. The result of that game? BU 1, UML 0. That's irony for ya.
-Something neat about the RiverHawks: After going 2-0 in the Boston portion of the tourney (i.e. the semifinal and the final), they are 7-0-1 this year on Boston soil (the lone blemish being a 4-4 tie earlier this year at Northeastern).
All this courtesy the Hockey East website.

Is Hellebuyck American? Any chance we see him for the US World Junior Team next Christmas?

Is Hellebuyck American? Any chance we see him for the US World Junior Team next Christmas? He is, but he turns 20 in may, which would make him too old to play.
