i learned a lot about Burmistrov and the KHL from this, thanks for posting. he is the best player on his team and the guy seems happy. hopefully he still wants to play at the highest level and a couple of years in the K will help him

Honestly I was never a big fan. I think he was rushed and I hope playing in the KHL helps this kid develop. The good thing is I believe Paul Maurice is the perfect coach for him to come back to.
Will he ever be a #2 Center? I have my doubts.

I pretty much agree, and I also hope that his time in the KHL helps him develop and he comes back and achieves success, but it's hard to see how the KHL will help him develop if by all accounts his main problem was not adapting to the North American game from the European style he was used to. Maybe it was just a Noel thing, but as far as on-ice problems the only thing I ever heard anyone discuss was too much east-west and not enough north-south. Isn't the KHL with the big ice surface the exact wrong place to try to correct those issues?

I'm not a big believer in the whole east west north south stuff. You can't always go north south aka Evander Kane!
The KHL will allow him to handle the puck more and grow his confidence. Pure experience!

Pure experience! I don't know if I really agree with it either, but that's the only knock I ever really heard. I guess my only point is that I don't think I believe the KHL will be better for him than the AHL would, but I do think the coaching change could be enough to bring him back at some point.

The reports were $2MM plus with income tax far below what he'd be paying here. There's a flat tax rate of 13% in Russia, compared to about 45% he'd be paying here. He'd need to get a contract for more than $3MM per season from teh Jets to make as much take home pay.
