TSN Reports that Zherdev has signed with Atlant of the KHL. So he won't be a Jet any time soon: www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=373126REPORT: ZHERDEV BACK IN KHL AFTER ONE SEASON WITH FLYERS Nikolai Zherdev's return to the National Hockey League was a short one, as Russian sports website Sport Express reports that the winger has signed a contract with Atlant Mytishchi of the KHL. Zherdev, 26, played with Atlant during the 2009-10 season after the New York Rangers walked away from his arbitration award. The Philadelphia Flyers signed him to a one-year contract last summer. Zherdev had 16 goals and 22 points in 56 games last season and was placed on waivers during the campaign. He played six seasons in the NHL, four with the Columbus Blue Jackets, one with the Flyers and one with the Rangers. Originally taken fourth overall by Columbus in the 2003 draft, Zherdev has 115 goals and 146 assists in 421 career NHL games.

Yeah, too bad. Would have been an interesting experiment, for sure.

Thats the thing though, an experiment, would rather they spent $2 million elsewhere, even if it was for just a year with him.
Seems he is more comfortable playing in his native country

Too late now so a moot point, but we are no where near the cap obviously so I don't think we can do any damage if we sign a player to a 1 or even 2 year deal.

I've got faith in TN. If they didn't sign him, it was for a good reason.
I have no reason to doubt True North - this is an organization that looks like it knows what it's doing. As of right now the Jets are undefeated!

I don't care about attitude right now... we need a 15-25 goal scorer bad. Our lineup looks really weak with no depth and will be putting a ton of pressure on our 'D' and our young goalie. Try putting together a 4-line lineup understanding Fehr is out for atleast the 1st month. Most have been putting Burmistov on the 2nd line... That's asking a lot.

I have faith in TNSE, but one would think they would have to make a play for a top 6 forward in the near future.

Well, sounds like True North WANTED to sign him ... probably just came down to dollars and cents ... and the KHL offered him more money ... too bad, because he would have certainly been entertaining to watch ... At the end of the day, we have an NHL team and that alone will carry me for the next few seasons ... at some point, it would be nice to have some danglers on the team for my personal entertainment

I actually wanted the Jets to sign Zherdev but he probably would have been a bust anyway. A good non signing perhaps.

So who do we go after next? We still need to find another 20ish goal scorer. I think we could trade one of our d-men away... seems like we have a bit of a surplus there.
