What is it all about? Is it just vague complaints about the corrupt system? Just curious if anyone is following this...I'm a bit late to the party... Pretty much, yes, just a bunch of vague/unrealistic complaints/ideas... Stated goals such as "End greed world-wide!" and "End all lobbying of any kind in Washington D.C.!" "Greed" is a natural human condition, and an overuse of it is bad yes, but we have a word for "greed" used to the right amount... It's called self-interest/motivation, the driving force behind such breakthroughs as: -Caveman "I'm cold, damnit...I wonder what'll happen if I rub these sticks and bang these ricks together, maybe that'll help..." -Anonymous Mesopotamian: "I sure wish there was a way to move my cart faster...these square blocks just aren't moving it along fast enough...maye if I round off the edges a bit..." Shakespeare: "I don't want to be a carpenter, I'd better learn a new trade, but can I really take that chance...carpenter or no...to be, or not to be--hey, wait a minute..." -Thomas Edison: "I bet if I harness this electricity thing I'll be rich, maybe name a company after myself...and these do-hickeys that play music and capture moving images, those might be a good business move, too!" And I GUARANTEE at one point someone said......... "You know, this game with the ice and sticks and a rubber disc thing is fun, and folks seem to like it a lot...hey! If I get a whole bunch of players together and we have teams and I schedule some games, I bet folks would pay to see THAT! (Just as long as I don't do something stupid like put a team in Miami or Atlanta or Phoenix or move teams away from their home cities to markets that can't support them just to boost my own ego--now THAT could ruin everything! Good thing no one's that stupid!")

"End greed worldwide" is impossible because it is in our nature to be greedy.
The more provisions I have, the better chance I have for survival and passing on my genes.
Greed is the reason I bust my ass six days a week at work.
What they want is wealth redistribution.
The problem with that is if everyone receives the same amount of compensation then there is no incentive to be creative, innovative or more productive.

For one example of a problem realized in the Occupy Canada movement, I recommend learning where Canada's money comes from. This movie is an example of something to watch (it's separated into parts). If you want the short answer, go here. Canada's income inequality is growing at a faster rate than the US, although for the time being we are faring better. See that "Made in (not Canada)" label? A Canadian likely lost their job to another country to provide that object in a cheaper and lower-quality state. Buying Canadian-made products helps Canada's economy and provides jobs for fellow Canadians. For more information on why it's better to buy Canadian, go here. The Globe and Mail's article on the economics of the Occupy movement can be found here. There are a lot more issues that have been mentioned - the economics is just one example. Everyone is focused on several issues or just one, some more than another, and all opinions are considered. I doubt I'm giving proper justice to the message, so it may be a good idea to do some independent research.

This movement is about many things, but I think the most important aspect of it is getting money out of politics (especially in the States). In the US, a corporation is basically considered a person under the law, in regards to free speech (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_v._Federal_Election_Commission). This means that a corporation can spend huge amounts of money in elections, and that obviously means that politicians will be even more willing to sell out to corporate interests when there is huge amounts of money on the line. This has to stop, because corporations already have their heel on the throats of the average citizen, and this trend is only going to make it worse.
"All that serves labor serves the nation. All that harms is treason. If a man tells you he trusts America, yet fears labor, he is a fool. There is no America without labor, and to fleece the one is to rob the other."

Waste of time IMO. Just a bunch of people complaining about the government and thinking that by illegally camping or encroaching on rich people's businesses and banks will make them change their minds.

I think the demonstration is namely about the richest people in the world finding loopholes around paying taxes accordingly. People are also complaining about how tax dollars are spent, big banks getting bailed out for example. I'd say those are among a few solid stances the protest stands on.
Sure there are lots of other motives that have somewhat piggy-backed and caused the 'its a joke reactions' which are posted above in this thread... but there are some seriously legitimate concerns that need to be addressed.

Here's a debate about the whole thing between Kevin O'Leary from Dragon's Den and Chris Hedges one of the best authors around right now, read some of his stuff its mind blowing. O'Leary basically gets his @$$ kicked and has to resort to name calling.
